went out this morning to my local permission with the R10 . after about ten mins i spotted a rabbit sitting nicely at 30 yards i steadied the rife and let rip . it hit the rabbit with a proper crack but ten i realised it wasnt dead ! and before i could get to it it draged its self down a hole i was gutted i hate wounding thing even rats so i webt home with the face on bagged a pidgeon on the way home and ive also checked my zero so i dunno what happend but its depressed me big time ! thanks for reading atb

When that happens to me I try to get to the hole as quick as I can and get my arm straight in and normally get hold of the rabbit as they tend to get just in to the hole and sit tight when wounded

I wouldn't worry too much mate it happens to us all at some point

sometimes its just their adrenanlin that drags them to the hole. If you hit them and their ears are still up then they are wounded. Ive hit them before with a rimfire at 30 yrds and had crawlers but as their ears were down i knew they wouldnt make it far.

 

As said before though if you get your hand down the hole they sometimes are there dead or sitting.
