Right lads , I'm off to France next month and was wondering , is it ok to turn off the speed camera alerts or do you have to get one that does not have this function ? The tolls are going to cost enough and I don't want a fecking huge fine for something that is not acceptable over there .

I didn't turn mine off when I was there, but I'm too tight to update mine and they are all out of date anyway.

But how would they know you had one unless they stopped you. By that time you could have it in the glovebox.....or am i missing something?

We had ours clearly in the window for 700 miles as did the car we were travelling with. Loads of plod at the tolls and no-one said a thing. I'd contact the manufacturer and see if you can delete the speed cameras just while you're there.

 

P.S Its 1500 euros fine.

Yeh it's the speed camera alerts that are illegal ,,,,,remember there's quite a few things you must have in the car in France and its an offence not to have them... Reflective vest for all passengers ,,, warning triangle ,, two yes two breathalysers ,,, gb stickers and them things you stick on your lights,, so they don't blind the frog drivers ...

 

Also why you using the tolls,,, there fecking expensive. 115 euro to drive from Calais to denia in Spain,,, avoiding the tolls this year I can tell ya.

I have and do drive all over Europe with sat nav never had an ounce of bother perhaps im just lucky

if you wear glasses a spare pair is needed aswell
