Cancelled Dumfries And Galloway Terrier And Lurcher Show.

Recommended Posts

Like i already said on the other post...

I rang them up to ask why there was no show this year...

Their reply...

"They wanted to much space, cars by the ring and we have managed to fill the space with trade stands"...

Its all about the money

Its a shiit show  been getting worse over the past 4 years or so.....

Now its just a jumped up agricultural show.... selling ice cream and wooly jumpers...

Gundogs...shooting and fishing all bring more money to the table...they darent cancell the scurrys or the fishing comp.....

But theres no money in lurchers/and terriers....so nothing for them to gain!

sad really --a lot of these types of shows years ago and the terrier champs used to go in the main arena --I won devon county show twice in front of 100 plus people in the main arena and got interviewed for local radio --how things have changed ..

Im not talking about the show...i talking hypothetically....about the revenue that gundogs, fishing and shooting brings in....

Shooting and gundogs is Massive on the buccleuch estate....along with fishing on the river that runs through it...cant remember the name of it.....

But the greedy fecker gets feck all from lurchers and terriers....

I had permission on some of his land to shoot....crows..pigeons etc....and ferreting...

Once i mentioned whippets and lurchers....he (or somebody in the office) didnt want to know.

I RECIEVED A REPLY TO MY EMAIL TODAY....

Thank you for your email.

We have not scrapped the Terrier and Lurcher show this year – the club we supported last year to attend (including priority parking, special escort onto site during the event for public safety reasons, sponsorship of rosettes, provision of materials and building of three show rings, wristbands for competitors etc.) was unable to attend for two days this year. As you can imagine, all of the above takes up a considerable area and time to organise and providing all of this for one day only would leave a large area empty which could be used for other features.

The area taken up by the T&L last year is being used as an Air Rifle Range for 2013, provided by SACS which is next to the Scurry, the gundogs and Gunmaker’s Row. In the same area is a large number of traders offering sporting goods including camo gear, countrywear/footwear, firearms, optics, stalking equipment etc. and further on, 2D and 3D archery, clay shooting and coaching lines, fishing on the loch, casting demos, etc. so the offering to the sporting/rural community is well-looked after. In addition to all of the above we have, in the arenas, the Scottish National Gundog Team, Dog Agility Displays (which includes a super little terrier called Lottie taking part), Falconry and many other sporting demos amongst the varied family entertainment. The event still needs to appeal to families, locals and new visitors and we have tried to provide an event that everyone can enjoy.

I have taken details today of a T&L club able to provide two days for 2014 and will be following this up when the 2013 event is over.

I hope this goes some way in demonstrating that we work hard to offer a well-organised event with plenty of variety.

Kind regards,

The show was only on one day last year though so what would it have mattered. They are full of shite the space could have stayed empty for a day there's plenty empty spaces down there anyway because there not much there.

That sacs mob eh booooo lol.
