gnipper 6,826
Anyone got any tips for getting my rollers flying higher and for longer? Is it a feed problem or a training problem? I'm flying them every day at the mo to get them kitting and feeding wheat and dari to the quantity everyone recommends so would keeping them in for a day or so give them the kick up the arse they need or do they need a boost of higher protein? I fed them more this week to see if it made a difference and they buggered off for about half an hour.

Tuzo 251
Feed them only wheat, an aerosol cap full per 3 birds.
gnipper 6,826
There's 11 in the kit at the mo and they seem quite happy doing laps of the town. When I had them on a wheat only diet it made no difference either.

gnipper 6,826
You need to get fantails or garden doves and lock them in for a couple of week mate.

As for feed their on a spoonful and there's no way they would fly an hour on that amount which is what I've read young birds should be doing but once the buggers decide their landing there's no stopping them? Would a splash of high protein feed give them a boost or make em fly off?

gnipper 6,826
Fly them and hour befor dark and they will kit better how many you fly in a kit Sorry Mark I've only just seen your post, there's 11 there now and they are kitting together quite well. There's a couple of quite new birds amongst them but they've been accepted quite quickly and are flying well. I'll try them later at night.

Shamo 319
Like everything mate, there may be a bad penny amongst them. Watch closely and try to see and recognise if there is one or two particular Birds taking them off. If it is a random thing, then try a couple days rest and late feeding. If there are any bad ones cull them out of your Kit.
gnipper 6,826
I think its a temperature thing, I tried them this morning while it was cool and they were good so I'll fly them later at night while its hot. Cheers, gnipper
