Put Some Eggs Under A Bantie

Recommended Posts

Have a broody bantie........it's a little swine, pecking and squarking every time you go near it. It's still laying eggs but I've put a mixture of copper black, maran and light Sussex under it.

First time I've had a go.......I'm guessing there is nothing like a natural mother........21 days and counting.....

Is it a first time broody? Ive got 3 this year, and the first sitting from two birds was disastrous. The partridge Wyandotte attacked the first chicks she hatched out, I don't think she was sure they we`re hers or where they had come from. I managed to rescue them from deaths door, all cold and deflated. They were fine after an hour under the electric hen. And the other broody come off the nest at 20 days, but I didn't notice until the eggs were well and truly cold..

Fingers crossed boys...

What you got due out Whippet, chickens and ducks?

if shes still laying i wouldnt be convinced shes fully broody mate

I've moved her out the past 2 days and she's in a box. Been sitting as good as gold and not been out. Have put some water and corn nearby but it's untouched so she's sat tight. I'm new to all this but she seems full on broody. Il lift her off tomorrow and see if she has laid but feck me there's going to be little room left !,, lol

are the chicken and duck eggs in the same incubator? bad move in my book mate

ive heard that the shells from the duck eggs can poison chicks or something like that ,..........well I had two chicks from three chicken eggs and I have six fertile duck eggs and two goose eggs left ,...........I took the chicken chicks out straight away and there good under the heat lamp now

there is nothing wrong with having them in the same incubator as long as they are due to hatch at the same time as otherwise the humidity will be messed up for either the ducks or the chickens. a friend of mine has just had ducks hatch in the same incubator as chickens and all was fine.
