On behalf of the folks from forest lodge respite centre we would like to thank Albert Irene The members of the the NILRC for the hospitilyand welcome they received on Sunday at Shanes The carers looking after the children were astounded at the number of folks that took time to say hello to the childern .The carers have already ask what date is Shanes on next year so they can looking forward it and trying to fix the shift rota.

The showing went well guilding from class to class without a hitch well done to the NILRC and judges who pressed on even in the heavy showers A BIG well done to Dessie Mackin in taking the over all champion with a beautiful wee terrier Sorry I never got the name of the guy with the lurcher but well done a useful and obedient wee lurcher would love to see this wee lurcher work, And my own wee bitch Lady done us proud yet again lifting the All Ireland whippet champion title for the 3rd time . Under the wachful eye of Graham (Vermin catcher) Who's dog won the working whippet class Graham kept us all fed on burgers and hot dogs, He was still sitting at the barb a que when we left Prehaps Albert might need to check that he has left the field he seemed to have enough grub to do him for a fortnight .

Sam,

Thank you for bringing these very special kids to our fair and giving them a day out to remember. Another piece of excellent PR for the terrier, lurcher and whippet and country sports world. I know that is not why you bring the kids but it does work for our communityand Irene and I are pleased to facilitate you and them any time. We thank you for bringing them. Three great and classy dogs in the final - your own dog oozes class but I couldn't help, like you, falling for the lurcher - such a very pretty dog but all lurcher!

It was a pleasure cooking for you Sammy, i was, if truth be told trying to give you and your dog food poisoning before the whippet show classes so I could pave the way for my own dog but it was to no avail. I forgot you boys are from the East of the city and are well used to eating each other and your dead ,so a half cooked burger is childs play to you :D . Your dog and yourself are worthy winners in my book ,as not only does your dog look the part but it also puts in the graft in the fields. Ill claim the jacket next year with Barney unless of course he ends up like a Giraffe :D:D Well done mate

On behalf of the NILRC I would like to thank Sammy and the kids from the Forest Lodge Respite Centre for their generous donation of prizes for the young handlers hunting dog/bitch classes on Sunday. It was great to the see their smiling faces and we hope to see them at more venues in the future.

A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY FRIENDS IN THE COUNTRY SPORTS  ARENA
As we approach the end to 2025, I would like to reach out and personally thank  all my friends in Country Sports for all  the hard work you  put into  organising our dog show and race days in 2025 for all to enjoy. These were all fantastic events and truly served as a wonderful window for our Country Sports fraternity.
Days like these at our dog shows in the summer are so important for our community, and your details and dedication to the cause has really shone through. So many charities have benefited over the years and so many new friends made at these get togethers  by like minded people. This was very evident in July this year when the Burren Working Dog Club gave £17,OOO to a charity. What an achievement.

I know there will be some very sad homes  this year,  with places missing at the  dinner table  in  our Country Sports  community. Can I please offer my heartfelt sympathy to all those people , and  hopefully with Gods help you will get through to brighter days ahead.

Many thanks to the McGrath Racing Club Carlow, for a great day out at the 5 Nations and who has travelled north and south of the border to run our racing so efficiently and helped me out on many occasions..  A special word of thanks to Tally Ho ( Peter Morgan ) for keeping the Country Sports window open in the dark days of winter by organising your virtual competitions and giving away so many generous prizes in return. This is so greatly appreciated .

And Finally, to my mentors and long term friends  Mr 5 Nations himself, yes The King of the Castle Albertj Titterington and his lovely wife Irene. Albert it is great to see you getting back to health again, and we look forward to seeing you back on the scene in 2026.

Finally, Finally, may I take this opportunity  to  wish you all North and South of the border and further afield a very Happy Christmas and  Prosperous  New Year.

To we meet again in 2026 God Bless

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
      Margaret Mc Stay
