Acuspell 329
Your best bet is to buy a used set up - you will not lose anything on it if you decide it isn't for you after a few trips then. I designed and build composite fishing kayaks, but they will be out of your budget I expect. Many people get the idea it is just a case of getting a kayak, chucking it in the water jumping on and off you go....these are the ones who end up losing gear (rods and reels mostly) and getting rescued by the RNLI. GET YOURSELF ON A COURSE. There should be a Kayak fishing safety course at Bexhill in the summer during the festival. The cost of the course will save you 10x that amount in lost gear - plus you will be more proficient, more efficient and get more pleasure from the pastime - themoney spent of gear lasts a few years. Money spent on education / training lasts you the rest of your life. Which is the better value! Happy to help - ask away. Edited June 2, 2013 by Acuspell 1 Quote Link to post
Nik_B 3,791
We just did a two day course in Anglesey it was brilliant and a real eye opener. The first day we spent on the Menai Straights to get a feel for what the tides and currents can do. The second day we took a trip round Puffin Island to see the seals and porpoises etc. Not sure if I'd want to try fishing off a Kayak just yet knowing my luck I'd hook something huge and get capsized Quote Link to post
Acuspell 329
Why would you get capsized? 3 Quote Link to post
