Nik_B 3,791
Look at these two imbeciles carrying unexploded ordnance along a beach with their family in tow...Sure there is a chance that they are dummy rounds but would you take the chance? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/10059107/MoD-launches-appeal-to-find-two-men-pictured-carrying-unexploded-bombs.html

Lab 10,979
I'd have been tempted to go "BOOM" when they walked passed.
Blackbriar 8,569
Some guy on the radio, from the RA I think, said they are indeed live rounds (something to do with a driving band whatever that is), probably fired from a Chieftain tank as recently as 2011 !!! Buch 145
The driving band is the different coloured metal band around the bottom of the projectile you can see in the picture (above the white area). You can tell its been fired by the scoring marks of the driving band itself, this is caused by the rifling inside the barrel of which ever weapon fired it. You cant necessarily tell its "live" by this, it could just be a training round ie a big lump of metal. Still its pretty stupid to pick it up and carry it round.
