malt your loyalty to the reds is great but as a utd fan myself and defended rooney so many times cum on open them eyes pal, rooneys not a bad player but as a striker you need a good first touch and on.many accasions its been nothing short of a 2nd rate or overweight footballer, when hes got the touch hes great but at present hes slow on.ball gives balls away. ur right about him being creative and his passing at times is great but it aint the rooney we once had, what makes sir alex great is knowing when to move a player on and rooneys time is coming fast, maybe this maybe next season.

Well that was emphatic... UTD were top class in the first half, and that 2nd goal was as good as any ever IMO....RVP has shown his class They were a machine this year, Giggs there for number 13 what

Well done Utd, 20 titles thats some feat.

Besides Stewie, we make strikers good not buy them good. Ask a Man U fan about Brian Mclair or more recent larsson. I'd say to you dalglish but you were either not born then or were an arsenal fan at

Fair enough mate, like you said earlier we'll wait and see what Fergie decides, he knows better than any of us how to set up a football side lol... Obviously on Monday he thought that was the best side to win the game and no one could argue because they did.. And Rooney was instrumental in the early purple patch...

Another midfielder required and Rooney needs to learn how to play like a traditional Centre forward lol

Well if your getting rid of Carrick anytime soon i think Green and White hoops would suit him perfectly............:thumbs:

Keep your hands off Carrick mate, he's our best midfielder....

But your welcome to that fat, slow, no position, used to be bald, prostitute shagging, scouse waste of skin Rooney though........

Haha...........Yip i'd still take him up here.... :toast:

As for Carrick ive been saying for years ive always thought he was an outstanding player.........what boiled my piss was he seemed to play second fiddle to that useless c**t Darren Fletcher and in return that consistency in the Man Utd team granted him a certain start in the Scotland team and he is murder!

I understand what your saying Lab, but there is no one else at UTD ( apart from Jones) who can play in other positions as well as other player ( if not better).. I would rather Rooney in the side than not 9 times out of 10 and the majority of the time he'll play as a striker or in behind... The thing is as well, sides are set up to make room, on Monday Valencia pulled right out wide, Kagawa or Giggs changed around pulling defenders away from RVP, his movement is so good that once the others are more interchangeable spaces open for him, that 2nd goal was all about the setting of the play and Rooney was on that position to play those sort of balls, the first goal was the same... If you play traditional 4-4-2 now you don't open the spaces like UTD did on Monday... Look at Jones as well, he's played right back, centre midfield and centre back recently is he a failed centre back or a very good footballer??

The only difference i'd say between Jones and Rooney is Jones is a young lad possibly trying to find his best position where as Rooney is known for club and country as a striker, and always has been a very good one at that.....i'm just not sure that putting him further back will be everyones cup of tea.......If i was a midfielder being left out because a striker who wasnt possibly playing his best upfront was given my position in midfield i'd be offski.....

jamie carragher was always thought of as a striker as he went through the ranks, modeled himself on sharpe, ended up a world class defender..........if rooney dropped back into a gerrard type role.............at only 26?? rooney and suarez are both "hate type" figures alike...............but fook me on their day they can play!! they would be great up front together........... :hmm:

Carrick always does a decent job mate, nice and tidy player and can pass a ball.. He very rarely wastes possession....

I don't mind Fletcher, he's scored a fair few goals from midfield ( something that Carrick lacks)... But he's no world beater... Who's better than him for Scotland in midfield???

I ain't saying he's all that but I don't think he's second rate at all.. He has issues with his weight, but IMO thats more to do with the shape of his body than anything else. Some people have a naturally athletic build like Ryan Giggs, RVP, etc, but someone stocky and powerfully built like Rooney will have to work a lot harder to stay at the same fitness level as the ones I've just mentioned. When he came back in the early season he was clearly carrying a bit of extra beef. I said at the time on here when he got injured at the start of this season I could see him coming back a lot leaner, and he did. Fergie himself has said the same, that Rooney needs to play a lot of football to stay fit. All players drop in and out of form, I don't hold with the idea of labelling players as 'shit' and 'past it' on the basis of a few weeks worth of football, sometimes I think football fans have got too short memories. I've lost count of the times Giggsy's been written off by so called United fans after one bad game over the years. Time and time again he's come back to prove his doubters wrong.. Personally, I'd give Rooney the chance to do the same.

Scott Brown for one. We have managed to play when Fletcher has been injured or ill but the minute he is able again it seems that the team is built around him. IMO Fletcher is asked to play the 'win the ball and give it too the good players' role at Man Utd...when he plays for Scotland he is supposed to step up and be the play maker...i dont think that suits him. We used Paul Hartley years ago to sit deep in the mid-feild and break up attacks, i think Fletcher is more suited to doing that......

I get your point mate, no national side ( even Scotland lol) should be built around a player like Fletcher, but not being rude I would say played properly ( if fit) he would be one of Scotland's best players..

Good post Malt,

Rooney's an easy target really, and at times doesn't help himself, but he has a great record, he's still young and can play anywhere well, it would hold water ( the failed striker thing) if he wasn't so influential on Monday in midfield...we're a fickle bunch us football fans lol

What's the deal with Fletcher anyway? He had something similar to my brother, something dodgy with his bowls and it stopped all exercise for him too :hmm: when's he back? He was Scotland's best player!!! ;)
