Does Anyone Dip New Hemp Nets?

Does anybody on here dip new hemp nets in anything to help preserve them? I,ve read about creosote but never seen it done. Any info or advice appreciated. Cheers.

nonsense, you only need to hang them after using to make sure they are dry, hemp makes good nets,but stored wet will rot,

I have hemp nets 30 years old, and I am still using them, there as good as the day they were knitted.

I've been knitting with 4ply hemp and they make great nets. Deciding whether to keep some for myself. Hang them after use and they'll be fine

on the dvd rabbiting just some of the methods mick mansbridge soaks his hemp in wood preserver and lets it dry before knitting his nets

Hemp nets are great but you need double the amount of spun nets etc , i would use mine hang them up and use a fresh batch the next day ,never treated them with anything and during the summer hung them up and let the air circulate round them till i started ferreting again .Theres no shame to some of my hemp nets must be twenty years old and seen constant use

couldnt tell you it just shows u him doing it and he says u get a few more years from them i have the dvd here if u want it all i ask is u pay the postage

It's pretty obvious the answer already, but to put another nail in the coffin, it's drivel, as said just dry them properly and don't leave them wet.

 

I have some of my grand ads nets still, he has been dead 30 year, god knows how old they were when I got them ! Prob 20 odd then ! Secret is good storage.
