NEWKID 29,095
We had a family weekend on a caravan site in Weymouth this weekend, my lot my brothers lot and the dogs... On Sunday we decided to walk the dogs down to the beach, about a mile or so it was your usual mess with us lot 4 adults, 6 kids, 3 dogs, kites, footballs etc.. my brother was throwing a ball for my jack russel and I had the lurcher on a lead ( she's nervy with dogs), with that a fair lump of an English Bull Terrier came hurtling over to "play" with the russel, she was just keen to play ball and not bothered by the other dog, he kept pestering her and was getting boisterous, the woman owner was now running around trying to get hold of him... I gave the wife the lurcher and went accross to put the terrier on her lead.... The bull then turned and quickly had her pinned down ( luckily on her side) I grabbed the EBTs collar and twisted it choking th dog, whilst the lady owner was saying "let him go now, and he'll let her go" It took 10 secs or so of choking and h let her go, the kids were crying, general carnage the woman was saying "it's not like him to behave like that" etc Luckily there was no damage to the terrier, she'sa tough little thing. But my concern would be that woman had no idea how to break her dog off, and was still concerned for her dog whilst I was choking it. I've nothing against tyhe dog, dogs will fight etc thats life... it wasn't a kid or anything. she was a very well soken lady with a big bull terrier and greyhound running free around dogs and kids.... you got to wonder about some of these owners
ratpackjack 272
I keep 2 bullys and would never put them or others in a situation where it can all go pear shape as they are soft as shite but they are still bullies and i should not have them if i where not be capable of controlling them and knowing their traits and what CAN happen in the blink of a eye.....and we wonder why these dogs get a bad rap its because or idiot chavs that mistreat them and silly people like that woman who dont have a clue.....irresponsible dog owners are a danger not the dog i was working in london on a estate there and the contract was almost up was the last day there anyway i thought ide have a look about on lunch so i walked threw this park if you wish to call it that only to find a ebt and a irish staffi locked in battle as in just clamped to one anothers faces with their owners screamind and pulling their dogs by the collars....neither dog was on a lead and neither owner had a clue what a mess, anyway a black fella came over and helped me free these dogs from one another while the silly cow screamed and the other owner just stood about looking sheepish point being if that had been a child or another dog there would have been a diff outcome lucky for them both dogs after prizing and clever manipulation came off with just a few deep wounds to the face and ears etc........its not the dog its the wankerz holding the leads i say
NEWKID 29,095
My mate keeps bull terriers plus a pat and Jrt, nicer dogs you'd be hard pushed to find.. I've been ratting, ferreting and general hunting with his dogs and mine and there a credit to him... This dog was owned by what seemed like a respectable middle aged woman, it just seems crazy to me to let such a powerful dog run free around other dogs and kids, she had no control at all and what was worse when I was choking her dog off she wanted me to stop in case I hurt her dog... Mental, it had locked on fully, you weren't going to ask it nicely to let go lol.. There's been a few of these threads lately I know, but it's usually blamed on Chavs she was no way a chav but very ignorant to the potential her dog had..

Ideation 8,217
Was at a show yesterday, some guy put his big bull x in the straight racing, half way up the track it got its muzzle off, went over the finish line and made for the nearest dog (on a lead, held by some bloke) to smash into, guy lifted his dog up over its head to get it away, bull x took guy down, grabbed dog, and would have done a lot of damage if the owner of the other dog had not jumped on it and got it in a headlock, chokeing it off. Some folk just need their heads read, when they either cant stop their dog being dog agressive, or dont face up to that and deal with it responsibly, i.e not taking it out in public or letting it free run around other dogs etc.

I got a terrier here who is terrible with other male dogs, including my own. I can't leave him and finn together for a moment or i come back to find him locked onto finns throat (or rather collar usually). So i just never free run him in public where there might be other dogs. simples.

Nik_B 3,791
Dunno about anyone else but I stay as far away as I can from other dogs and their owners, means I have to travel miles or just walk on the roads if I don't have time.

Huan72 687
The problem is that people get a dog without really "knowing dogs", they dont take the time to really understand what owning a dog entails. If the womens reaction was to panic and do nothing, what would have happened if you were of the same nature, who would have sorted it? Rather than just get a dog, I think people really need to think long and hard if they have the time to invest in all aspects of owning a dog, not just feeding it but socialising and training it. The first time I met a Greyhound was a classic example. My neighbours got a dog from the local track and were told to keep the muzzle on in the garden for a day or two so that the local cats knew their was a new boy in town! They didnt so one day the woman next door started screaming, so I rushed out and through the fence saw their new Greyhound running around with my cat in its mouth. She was just screaming and physically paralysed so I ran round and took my cat out of its mouth, obviously dead! The cat was in their garden so one of those things, the thing is she just screamed and did nothing and i was only ten years old!
