Malt 379
We've got some good youngsters coming through again though so that should raise our expectations over the next few years... Who would you class as 'good youngsters' mate? I can only think of Wilshire and maybe Zaha as two potential world class England players of the future off hand.. NEWKID 29,129
We've got some good youngsters coming through again though so that should raise our expectations over the next few years... Who would you class as 'good youngsters' mate? I can only think of Wilshire and maybe Zaha as two potential world class England players of the future off hand.. Smalling and jones both look promising defenders, ox-laid chamberlain has pace and gets at defenders, I'd say Wenger is cautious with him still but with a bit of game time he'll be a decent winger, Cleverly was poor against Montengro but he looks a handy enough player, Wilshere could be a real class act ( injuries ??), Welbeck is thought highly enough by Fergie to play ahead of Rooney in the biggest game this season, and he done the decision justice I think he looks a real talent, plus he works his nuts off.As this bunch mature alongside Rooney, Joe Hart, Glen Johnson etc that's a decent nucleus going forward.... I've not seen enough of Zaha to comment mate, but he's obviously a talented lad. We're a footballing country we'll keep producing players because 90% of kids want to play football, I just think the Italians, Brazilians, Germans and now the Spanish expect to win every game, it's a mindset, it's almost trained into them I guess as kids. Edited to say, I'm not sure any of these youngsters are looking world class potential, but I'm not entirely sure who is world class now Rooney? Gerrard ? Or is it only Ronaldo and Messi......... Oh and Bale... Edited March 27, 2013 by NEWKID

baw 4,360
The national team gives a strong indication on how good a countries league is doing. How many of the England squad play in the prem for the top sides? Baw that is possibly one of the most backward statements you have ever come out with !..........Why is a national team a strong indication of how good that countries league is ..............The English premier league is one of the top leagues in World football, the national team is far from that............The Germans are a great national side but only recently is their league coming up to scratch.......Italy,Argentina and Brazil are some of the greatest sides in the history of International football but their leagues are relatively poor.I know you have a constant desire to slag English football mate but its still got to make sense I know gnash, as I was writing it I was thinking, that don't make f*****g sense just forget I said it its f*****g hard being a Scottish fan trying to get a slant to slag you guys you know lol I had to re-read your post 3 times to make sure i hadnt misunderstood it. if you understood it after just 3 reads, you did better than me

gnasher16 31,602
I don't expect to beat Spain, Italy, Brazil etc, that would be having high expectations... Yes but we have beaten all 3 of them recently...............so its swings and roundabouts sometimes you have unlikely wins and unexpected losses thats just sport for you.....do you think they expected to lose to us of course they didnt....so are they in crisis because they lost to England ? We are just such a downbeat nation when it comes to sport ......other countries sports stars are national hero,s.....our sport stars are hero,s until they reach the top then we detest them and drag them back down as quick as possible !
