Acuspell 329
Don't shoot the pheasants in April Ah fair enough, I tried again last night to no avail 2 woodies came into view in the 3 hours I was down there but couldn't get a shot off, they seem to roost out of my permission at the moment, good news tho, late April the farmer is sowing mustard seed so the pigeons a pheasants should be all over that , which means they might start to roost closer again! , :icon_eek: Don't shoot the pheasants in April chap. Also, don't forget that by end of April the trees will be leafed and you won't see a damn thing - you'll hearthem, and you will know where there are, but you try getting a shot through the leaves! I live in jersey in the Channel Islands mate, we have no game season and phesant is classed as a pest, as long as its on your licence to shoot you can all year Well theres a thing....I have learned something new today! The Duncan 802
Me too - I had to look up to find the legal status of the channel Islands. DO you have similar rules too the UK for SGC's and FAC's? Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Depends where the pheasants are, you can shoot them as pests in this country, if they are in a grain store for instance! Quote Link to post
Craig Fosse 286
Duncan, I'm not overly sure, over here you need an FAC for anything, which I think negates the fact for shotgun certificates and tickets, it's all under one route, unfortunately the laws are worse than the uk for example I'm not allowed to have a friend on my permission to shoot my air rifle, he has to have his own FAC which is highly annoying, unfortunately fire arms over here are very anti social, but it will be fun this year for the pheasants especially being as though I have just returned to the island after a career in the armed forces, in still tryin to get my head around the laws, don't take my words as fact though, I am looking into a shotgun at the moment so the laws will be more aparent Quote Link to post

It sounds like you're under even more draconian laws than we are in the UK. Suddenly I feel better about the cow-beech FEO I've got to deal with from time to time Quote Link to post
Craig Fosse 286
Yer I know tell me about it, I have a very close friend of mine who comes shooting with me but doesn't own a rifle because of all the costs etc for a locker nd n o mention the hassle of obtaining an FAC, he sits in a hide with me and we hunt together but only I'm allowed to shoot, it's pathetic Quote Link to post
