Goldfinch mules, timbrados, wateralagers. There's loads of different types for singing but all cock canaries will belt out a tune (apart from rollers which are quite quiet) so try some cheap fifes.

rollers quiet ???
Maybe quiet was the wrong word but they certainly aren't the loudest, how can they be with their mouth shut?

:icon_eek: That's mental! Why do they do that? I've never seen, or heard of, that before. Are they taking the piss?

If you watch a roller sing it doesn't/shouldn't open its beak, kind of like us humming I suppose.

gnipper you are correct some parts of rollers song appear quiet ,when i kept them some would sing soft only heard when in the shed with them, singing with closed mouth and from the throat,a ROLLING song ,not open mouthed and broken like other types,it takes a experienced ear to know a good roller from bad, thats why i parted company with mine at the time they were too good stock for pets, more for singing comps wish i kept a few,as a pet singer cant beat fifes busy little birds and cheap to buy.
