lurcherman 28
HW99s are a good starter gun but they retail at £199.99 and they mite weigh abit more than 4kg scoped ? (depending on the scope that is ?) but its defo worth the extra £50 mate lurcherman Quote Link to post
Malt 379
Crosman King ratcatcher. I've got one for the pests that frequent my garden and is fine for rabbits, IF you can get close enough. It's nice and light, easy to aim, accurate up to about 30 yards and has no re-coil. It also puts out around 10 ft/lbs. With a barrel off the rabbitstopper, i'm told the power inceases to around 11.5 ft/lbs. Not everyone will agree with me, but I personly think it would be an ideal starter rifle. NB if you're going to look at this rifle, look at the KING ratcatcher as it is a better gun than the standard Ratcatcher. Edited July 26, 2007 by maltenby Quote Link to post
stubby 175
im all for the ratcatcher, great little pest control tool, but Id suggest the standard version with powerletts, reason, they give 10/15 good shots and the powerlet cost 25p ish the king takes the larger bottle, and is ok for about 200 shots, but if you go shooting and only use 50 shots, means your storing the gun with gas in, which over a period of time will either leak or sod the seals up, Quote Link to post

I was always told that a seal will last longer when under pressure, it's just like leaving a buddy bottle on a PCP. As for leaks, I've heard that some people have had leak problems but on a personal note, I havn't suffered. Also the king ratty comes with scope rails (no need to buy special mounts), a metal breach, and a better bolt. It also produces more power. Edited July 26, 2007 by maltenby Quote Link to post
targa 5
Go for a hw35, much more gun (andfun) for your money, and your kid can shoot it untill he's 15 or so. same power every time you break the barrel, in .177 much better then any crossman. Quote Link to post
