Thats just how they run hares in their country, got no baring on the dogs quality Of course it has a bearing on the dog's quality. I'm not going to get into a tit-for-tat arguement, but unless you run single handed then no man knows how good, or indeed, how bad his dog is. I've seen plenty over the years that were out and out jackers until they were doubled up. One dog, with no back up, then that's when you know what you've got in your kennel. IMO. 6 Quote Link to post
dogs-n-natives 1,182
Dont think for a minute im defending them, or agree with the way they hunt. But Ive been over and seen for myself, and trust me they do keep some decent stuff for all game. You must have been over the far east of europe/russia yourself to have such bold statements? The dogs are usually owned by different folk, and its a bit of crack and a sort of competition. Just to repeat, i dont condone doubling up at all. But I would never be so hasty to call a dog shit because it happens to be running with another two on a youtube video Quote Link to post
desertbred 5,490
Dont forget it is man that made the rules for single coursing naturally dogs are pack animals and hunt as such many places throughout Europe Asia and africa still hunt as packs. No one objects or seems to object to a pack of fox or otterhounds. So why criticise what is tradition and custom in some countries 2 Quote Link to post

I am not very well travelled...but...I'm sure that a hare is a hare and a running dog is a running dog no matter where they are in the world. Trebling up is still trebling up no matter whether its here or at the North Pole. Are they out to be sportsmen or are they out to kill the hare come-what-may? Are they out to test their dogs...or just kill the hare ? Like I said...that was only my opinion......we all do things differently. Quote Link to post

AirgunGuy 362
Fair point but some parts of those countries are lawless so anythin goes. I fish occasionally with 2 guys that have fished in Russia and they've had shots taken at them as the locals get put off the rivers when the big money guys are there. Locals rule and their goes. Those countries that seems to be the attitude whereas here i think in this country we like to give game a sporting chance...especially where running dogs are concerned. I like to eat some of the rabbits i get so dont like gettin a bag of mince back. Just my opinion ! If its hare then each to their own...haven't done much in that department ! Quote Link to post
