B.P.R 2,798
Headed out with rm2508 this morning and my wee boy (3 years)....had promised him an outing alk week and with the season coming to an early end we went out in the snow. Met ross at 11am and headed to some local permission ... Ferret was entered by my son and then he buggered off for a cuppa....out of ross' flask We waited....and waited...and waited some more.....got a mark at a few feet and began to dig with no luck whatsoever due to tree roots and awkward bushes. Out came the smartphone and the trusty 'predator noises' app.....a few squeals of a distressed rabbit and the fert came storming out! So onto the next set and usual routine. Ferret in and waited.... Again another kill in....or so we thought so started to dig to the mark...then the bugger shifted.....and back again....my son was on 'hole watch' while we watched the entrance of the burrow. He indicated that the ferret had passed the dug hole with the bunny and right enough the rabbit appeared at the ebtrance with a stinker on its tail and bolted.... Ross' bitch cody made short work of the run and took the rabbit on a quick turn. another rabbit bolted out of the hole and headed up the hill with my whippet on its arse and got taken on the straight line. We tried another single holed burrown and it quickly became apparent that the bunnie wasnt bolting as the squeaks indicated a dig was on the cards. With time against us we dag for a while until the ferret was disturbed from his rabbit feast and presented himself at the holes entrance. We quickly moved on to the old pilon from which nothing bolted and called it a day at two rabbots for my sons last outing this season. He loved every minute of it and learned a lot. Came home for 2.30 head to to covered in mud with the wee lad telling his mum all about the day. Not a big bag at all....but the day was all about the wee man and teaching him about the sport... A few more pics from today 5 Quote Link to post

A lot of hassle for two rabbits but it was all about getting the young lad oot and at least it wasn't a blank. Anyone want to swap Lee a catty for a flask? Not one cuppa did I get out of it!!! That was then followed by his glacit 1000 yard stare may have just topped it. Quote Link to post
