lurcherchris 5
Hi all, was out the other day when the dreaded happened, yep the fox spun out of the net. just wondering what any of you guys thought. It was the first time i really used my double peggers, i was just wondering wether the draw cord may have been too long making the pegs too far away from the ring so that when the fox bolted it took too long for the net to purse on him, hence him pretty much spinning out of it. The net seemed to be set fine, the net went to purse but he managed to turn, this is what made me think of the above theory that it didn't purse quick enough. I have always used single pegged nets and i can barely count on one hand the amount of times they have got out. So just wondering what you guys thought. It could just have been one of those unlucky things. Also what do others prefer single or double peggers? Hope to get some good feed back but yes i do also expect some piss taking on my part as well Quote Link to post
jamesmc 582
these things just happen mate ,....have you got a pic of the nets, what material are they,lenght,weight,rings,pegs,etc... Quote Link to post
lurcherchris 5
Six footers from bridport nets he done me some for single peggers and i got him to put the cords through to do four doubles. Think of the top of my head it was 2mm braid. As i said had tonnes with their nets before used as singles. Quote Link to post

twotone 6
I had similar with a single peg recently and was thinking of trying doubles, just shows can happen to either. Quote Link to post
netrigger 568
Maybe the mesh was caught up on some debris, causing the net not to purse properly..? Quote Link to post
BORDERSCOT 3,816
Always used single pegs - had twisters too!!!! Just a fact of life I reckon. And if they extricate themselves - good luck to them!!!! 1 Quote Link to post
bobcullen79 1,495
A few of us ferreting lads, like the idea behind setting the net first then pegging it out, to take up all the slack in the drawcord. The theory is that with no slack, the net starts to purse as soon as something starts to disturb it. Works for me. Sometimes it just happens though... 2 Quote Link to post
fitchet 788
Theres an old saying "let someone else set your nets so you can blame them when you lose your fox". Ive lost a good few out of nets double peggers singles heavy mesh lighter mesh. Its just luck mainly. Atb 1 Quote Link to post
