A Question For The Ns50 And Ns200 Owners

Recommended Posts

Just seen this thread

I own a NS50 and i have used it a fair bit on my Rapid and it is now on my XTX'd R10 .177, the scope i am using using 4-16x50 map pro and on mag 5. As above when i got it i put markers out at different set distances during the day, they where lasered and we waited for the night to come.

20, 30 40 yards we where seeing and hitting the target then moved to 50 yards and still the same, i never put any targets up pass 50 yards but could see maybe another 15/20yards for hitting the target if they where there but could still see bigger things past this range and when out in the field i have seen eyes of animals but unsure at what range but way past 70 yards because you cannot see anything apart from the eyes. The top setting has to be used to see at these ranges but i was surprised and happy, 50 yards is plenty for me and very happy with the unit

Lets be real and honest here lads

How many of us lads with sub 12 air rifles that shoot at night actually and honestly shoot rabbits at 50 to 70 yards anyway more than what you can count on your hand a year?

I shoot a lot and can honestly say i don't and if i did Id miss 90% of the shots due to range finding errors at night  .

20 to 35 yards is the probable normal ranges I shoot at at night 90% of the time unless shooting rats or feral and then its about 10 to 15 yards max 90% of the time with the odd 25 to 30 yarder if down in the barns in Oxfordshire with Davy.

If i needed to shoot 300 plus yards i would 1 buy a 308 and 2 ask myself why.

I just don't understand why so many people stick up for the man when he has such a poor reputation on multiple forums.

Fair play to the man for bringing out different types of NV equipment as competitions is always a heathy thing but his manners and attitude along with his customer relations leaves a lot to be desired !

I still believe that for the size, image and ease of use the NS50 wins hands down over all other add on Night Vision in the market at this time.

Hi Si.

I'm very new to my unit, and gettin used to the ranges is something I'm playing with at the moment. So this might not be very helpful! However, I know there are several spots on my permission where I can see upwards of 150 yds pretty comfortably. The distant tree lines are clear and detail good for spotting...... As long as the mag on my scope is wound down. With the magnification turned up, I'm finding the useable range restricted to about 120 yds or may be less. I'm using a hawke niteye 6-24/50 and I have left the sunshade fitted. I haven't tried to take the sunshade of it, to see how that changes things. It may cause bigger problems with flare, with S/S off? TBC.

Like I say I'm getting used to how it all works and the effects of scope adjustment / sunshade, but I'm pleased with the NS200, its more capable than I am at the moment.

Hey Si,

I owned a ns50 and I could see rabbits well over the 50yard or even meter range. Was more like 75-85 mtr, I know my permission it's 131mtr long with a dividing wire fence at 85mtrs, the rabbits were around and in front of that fence, my furthest kill was 64yards which I lased.

But I've had trouble with it if there is anything metal or reflective the ir would blind the camera, so I got rid of it & lack of use.

I'm fairly sure it says in the booklet that you can possibly see past the recommended 50 range depending on scope etc.

its the old adage of "UP TO"

Same as your broadband speeds.... "Up to" 20Mb

NS 200 "Up to" 200yds..... you get the idea..... Basically theyre just covering their arse to do "as it says on the tin" then noone can say it doesnt..... Then on the plus side when you can see well over the "desired" range you're happy as larry!!

:-)

i was showing my nephew my rifle set up last night

i put the ns50 on and it was'nt even on the highest setting

and could see the chimney on a house at the back of mine clearly

and i've just ranged it and its 67yds,

so it would pick up eye shine a lot further than that
