Gareth12 225
Does anyone have any experience in soundproofing their chicken pen or at least building a soundproof box for the cockerel? Was thinking something along the lines of the soundproof foam you can get on the inside of the house, then maybe some carpet stapled to the outside, can see the ventilation being the biggest problem though.. any ideas? Paid 935
Your better off building the box so that when the cock is roosting it doesn't have the hight to stand and crow.
skycat 6,174
Doesn't work Paid. For years I've been bringing cockerels into a dark shed at night, sitting them in a small cage where they can't stand up, covering them with a blanket as well, and the buggers still crow come dawn! You just can't hear them quite as much though

Paid 935
Skycat, it doesn't work if you have more than one cock, as they will compete. Works for my brother with his one, and none local to set it off. Should of said that really but sounded like he did only have

Richie10 345
Made a box, within a box. Between the outer box and inner, stuffed with straw. in the inner box put a foam which was noise proofing for houses and then cover that with carpet. Did make them alot quieter.
