paulus 26
no mate, its a decision we all have to make when we decide to release that slip lead or run loose in the day. misshaps happen if you carnt live with that then maybe working dogs are not for you. Quote Link to post

hillbilly boy 109
Every time you slip the lead you run the risk of the dog getting injured or worse unfortunately that's part and parcel of working running dogs 1 Quote Link to post

Gaz_1989 9,539
What northernlite is saying is that every time we slip our dogs we know there is a risk. Everytime I slip my bitch I hold my breath when she scrapes a fence or on the golf course when she's close to the bunkers. Etc. However with a whippet you need to hold your breath AND close your eyes Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
And I'm not knocking whippets. I love them. I just think its obvious they are more fragile than most. Quote Link to post

My biggest fear with running my pup at night is a high speed collision with a piece of farm machinery or similar heavy object. When my dogs ready for rabbiting thats one rule I'm sticking to like a religion. 1 Quote Link to post
B.P.R 2,798
My whippet broke both her back legs as a pup but shes fine and catching now. I hold my breath, close my eyes, cross my fingers and tie my foreskin everytime i slip her. 1 Quote Link to post
