What northernlite is saying is that every time we slip our dogs we know there is a risk.

Everytime I slip my bitch I hold my breath when she scrapes a fence or on the golf course when she's close to the bunkers. Etc.

However with a whippet you need to hold your breath AND close your eyes

Only tip I'd give is to check the area in daylight, just before sunset on nights when your going out. My biggest fear with running my pup at night is a high speed collision with a piece of farm machinery or similar heavy object. When my dogs ready for rabbiting thats one rule I'm sticking to like a religion.
