socks 32,253
I have been very impressed with Tilly over the last 2 days ... I have never seen a 5 month old pup with so much determination and prey drive .... I took her for her usual walk yesterday and half way along I practically kicked a hare up its arse out of a patch of grass the hare took off across a field with the daft pup off after it ... Now no amount of calling is going to get this pup back when she is chasing something ... Her ears were flat to her head and she was stretching flat out ... The hare was obviously just trotting across the field laughing at the dog ... She chased the hare a full 300 meters across the field until it whent through a rabbit fence and into a wood ... Now obviously this wasn't planned and I don't want the stupid pup chasing hares half way across the world BUT what impressed me was the way the pup stuck to the task with no hint of giving up ... She showed pure determination and focus on that hare until she could no longer follow it ....... Today we were walking through the wood next to my house when the pup who was around twenty meters in front of me started wind scenting the air and casting about ... She whent into a large patch of bracken and 5 seconds later out came a nice size doe that ran straight past me ... Now I was impressed with that or so I thought until out of the other side comes a muntjac with the pup inches off its arse luckily this time the gap in the wood is only 30 meters so luckely a short chase ... I took her down to where the deer whent into the cover and the pup tracked it for a good hundred meters ...... So all in all 2 impressive days with the youngster ......... 3 Quote Link to post
