Concrete of Pea Shingle?

looking for advice please. Got an area that is just a mud bath at the moment. With all the rain its hard to tell the dog shite from the mud. So I am going to bite the bullet and cover it..only concrete is pricey so I am considering slabs?

 

A few people swear by shingle but the dogs would scatter it everywhere. Just wondering what others use?

You can't put shingle on mud and concrete is cheaper than slabs. Unless you have slabs already.

I use 1 inch gravel, 4 inches deep, just jet wash it from time to time, had bark chippings years ago, but it just soaks up the piss and goes rank when the sun comes out, and the Blackbirds chuck it all over

i put a membrane down and 6 ton of cornish stone over what used to be my lawn ... pea gravels not substantial enough go for some bigger stone

Just do concrete then you can power wash it down and keep it nice and clean

Get yourself some ballast delivered a couple of tons and some cement bags and hire a mixer for a day or two and knock the stuff up yourself. For what you pay in slabs and a base for the slabs to go on your going to be quids in by DIY

yopur better looking for a second hand mixer. if your smart you can use it. and then sell it on. for a profit. (concrete)

I went for shingle, had the same problem the grass just turned to a mud bath with all the rain and dogs running on it, went on eBay got a membrane to cover the mud then got a ton of shingle delivered ..... Cost me next to nothing and stopped the mud everywhere, all I do is jeyes it once a week and rake it over every other day!!
