hey, really really dont forget to degrease the wood before applying the first/second coats of anything.

turp is greasy, white spirits isnt..

i've seen quite a few luvly preps go south after they desided 'oh it doesnt need degreesing' tis posable to equal up the smeery spreed but sheesh! its a touch of the spychics lol.

e.g. on goes the stain, looks nice, you come back thirty minutes later and it looks like its spreed into clusters..euwww and arghhhhhh!! on a bad greasy surface you'll be chaising the lighter patch's endlesly....as it spreeds rong and clusters up.

degreased thoroughly if it looks patchy any where it's usualy a case of two coats to three...if not, your in luck! you get to strip n sand out the stain! arghhhhhhhhhhh!!

a few thinner coats of varnish (if you go that way) will shine up very nice, par it down each coat, but makes sure theres no shiney patch's.. 5 or 6 starts to french polish up a bit.

a couple thick/full coats will sufice but has a different look. (if it looks good and finished, then it probably is..but that might be when your used to the varnish lark..).

finaly, if your wanting to paint on your motife piccy, save the last coat to cover all of the stock and it, or..just coat over the picture on its own to finish and protect it.(clear varnish if you want to..but bare in mind a slight 1/2 to 1 mill overlap to ensure the picture is sealed at the edges.

if your good you can multicoat the stock, and add the picture into the coats to get a sort of 'in the stock' looking image..if all else fails, desent varnis will hold a spray can camo lol.

edit..ooo i forgot, its all tranfer stickers now! theyre pritty cheep and some can look really good!
