nice photos charti , the bitch in the bottom picture facing looks very sloughi azewakh like to me but thats just my eye

Well you know, even though you don't rate the man, that he keeps his breed pure ! I was with him when he refused to use one of his dogs over an Omani bitch because the owners couldn't prove she was "pure" ! I rate him, simply because I have spent time with him and listened to what he had to say. I asked if he prefered feathered or smooth.... his answer was "working ability comes before looks" ! That will do for me !

Cheers.

ok we will play nice and not argue about it lets just agree to disagree on that point

I won't argue with you mate, but I'll discuss coo Salukis all day ! My point is, Hamed knows more about Arabian Saluki's than you or I will ever know !!

Cheers.

Well, I haven't got a clue what you are on about !! I lived out there for many years, owned and worked Salukis, have many friends who still do, I visited Hamed,on his invitation, and found the man to be extremly knowledgable about Saluki's, I went out with Princes and the poorest of Bedu's, simply to see the dogs work ! I appreciate what Saluki's do in thier own enviroment, and bet they can do it here in the UK ! I'ts easy to look on "You Tube" or see what's on the 'web... but actualy doing it is a different thing !

Cheers.

Love any saluki thread but will sign off with heredity over environment?

And combinations obviously.

Personally I have not seen them in the coo environment but the three imports are so very different that breeding does count. Mitochondrial dna stronger though.

exactly callie ,the lack of good choices in the gulf region , is born out by the fact that they import a lot of stuff from europe .. .plus the large amounts of cross bred sals from syria . puly for the races ,, qatar import alot then dump them at 5 or 6 years old when they loose there edge but that seems to be common practice all over the m/e now seem to be alot of western rescue org set up threhome them in the u/s and europe ...but there again not that much different from hear!!!

All the good lines in the middle east are family bred and dont go on the market full stop. If you are very lucky you may get gifted one but very rarely. Any imports are for Emirates, Saudia .Qatar and Bahrain, for the sheikhs for coursing / racing or thier trips into Asia. they have no affinity or attachment to the hounds and have that much cash they buy in every year same goes for the falcons and horses..

Here's a pic of him after he had run a hare in the desert. They went across a pool of crude oil that was covered in a thin layer of sand; the hare skipped across it.. the Saluki didn't !! LOL !!
