secretagentmole 1,701
OK, so you have been out and blown £400 of your hard earned notes on an NS50 or £600 on an NS200, you have a new problem now, it is known as a lead brick. The original battery that comes with the unit has a weight of 3lb (or 1.361 kg), is the size of an ornamental paving brick and has an operational cycle of about 3.3 hours from charged to empty. We have a solution for this. From ebay you can get batteries from £15 (delivered by Mr Hong of the Three Jolly Luck Takewaway Fishbar, Kowloon), these are lithium polymer and are a bit of a difference in weight. They weigh a mere 6 ounces (or 0.171kg) and have an operational cycle of about 6.8 hours from charged to empty. The difference in size makes these truly pocket sized... They come complete with a charger that switches off the charging when the cycle is complete and a handy on/off switch so you do not have to keep ratcheting that knob on the top of the unit round if you are switching on and off! All in all a very useful addition to anybody's Nite Site outfit! http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=12V+6800mAh+Rechargeable+Battery+&_trksid=p5197.c0.m627 1 Quote Link to post
Deker 3,491
I have already made a comment on this elseware, a slightly longer term review would be useful. Seems a potentially worthwhile investment! Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Thing is these batteries do not suffer from memory effect so if you charge them every time you have used them, they can be left for up to a year with no problems! Quote Link to post
willum 89
But be carefull with polima bats as they have a habit of exploding or catching light if they are cracked or impacted a friend uses them on model planes and helicopters and twice they have exploded on light impact just a heads up Quote Link to post
porkycrook 466
I was one of the first to buy the Nite-Site's and have said before that when you get a hand on the case it gives you a feeling of "something this heavy" must be worth the money. Then comes the disappointment when you open the case and you realise that the only heavy thing is the brick. Although it was the first of its kind, and it's always easier to copy an idea than to have the original thought. The first thing i did when i got mine was to buy one of the lighter batteries. Now what i do is too take both charged with me. My permission allows me both static and moving shooting, so i use the heavyweight when i'm static shooting and the lightweight one when i'm roaming because it fits into my handwarmer pocket of my jacket. As Mole said the lightweight one has its own on/off button, so rather than operate the clunky Nite-Site switch its just a case of reaching into my pocket. Nite-Site will have it's knockers but as i have said already, it's easy to copy but it's harder to have the original idea. 2 Quote Link to post

AR177 588
The one you have bought seems huge compared to the old battery, I bought one of these Li-ion ones, about the size of a mobile phone http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f17d97be7 Spot on, but the majority of nightsite owners buy different batteries it is a major flaw in the unit.
