I use flowers in my cemetery permission. But they dont work in the paddocks!

you could leave veg peelings or dried rsbbit food out, but initially they wont touch it. Takes a good while for em to cotten on to it as a food source

to be honest why? dont get me wrong mate im not knocking it and if it works great . the main natural food for rabbit is grass and most warrens are surrounded by it ..all you need to do is take your time and be patient visit your permission and different time of the day to see when they are most active but patients is one of the main things when it comes to this hobby

Ground bait does work especially during winter, just be patient, I use Value rabbit food from Tesco! Cheap, just put it down in the same place where they are feeding regularly, this helps them associate your scent with food! Also do not shoot every pile you put down, vary it, that way they will not associate piles of food with rapid death!

Yes this method dose work but don't let the land owner know, your not just bringing them out but feeding them when your not there and it could be taken the wrong way. Have you tried putting a carrot on a house brick with a sprinkle of pepper over the top?

The bunny sniffs the carrot sneezes and knocks it's self out on the brick then you just pick it up LOL

I've been shooting Rabbits with air rifles since the late 70's and not felt the need to bait them yet. Good field craft and stalking technique will put far more Rabbits in the bag than any bait. I really cannot see the point. All grass fields are literally covered in bait :whistling: .

hi guys just a quick question, do any of you use bait when hunting rabbits, a have permission on some land where the owners say there is a fair few rabbit, but considering the condition of the weather and time of year i was just wondering if u had any advice on getting them out?

thanks chris :D

hi chris

here is what you should do!

go to the garden center and buy some water cress seeds, get up really early when its still dark, get to your permission while still dark.and take the top soil out about an inch deep and ten square meters in size, plant the water cress seeds.give them a watering before you leave, and pop back at regular times (while its still dark) for a fortnight and top up with water, weather depending.once the water cress has grown to about (70mm to 100mm - 2 1/4 inches to 4 inches) for those who shoot in metric & imperial.

get to your location before sun up,and get your self in a static position within your zero, air rifle loaded and wait!

then...................reape your rewards

I have been fishing for 30 years and still have to put a worm on me hook even tho the sea bed is covered in em lol

:icon_eek: :icon_eek: :icon_eek: But don't Lug and Ragworms live under the sand so the sea bed isn't ACTUALLY covered with them :D . I normally take a spade when collecting sea bait at low tide and don't remember ever catching or seeing a Codling or Flattie armed with a spade :whistling:.

If your no seeing the rabbits change your time you visit your permission they must come out to feed some time ,then try lamping to see if there out . But after a few times if i was still struggling i would swap to another method of control
