eradic8 0
Matt. I've always used a cloth soaked in BrunoX. Used it for years and swear by it for action or stock Al Quote Link to post

xraiderx 94
2 parts walnut 1 part balistol on the stock a little at a time and just balistol wiped not sprayed on the metal work you dont want to get any kind of oil in the action ATB GARRICK Quote Link to post
Grayling 56
I always oil a new Walnut stock for the obvious reason of making sure it is adequately weather proofed. Oil finnished stocks are easier to repair dings and dents than laquered/gloss finish. I also find sitting in front of the TV rubbing warmed oil into the stock very therapeutic and it never ceases to amaze me the wonderful grain pattern that often appears while building up oil coats. I use a 3 pack trade secrets oil finnish kit. Quote Link to post

Do I need to do inside the stock were the action sits too? I'd put some oil in there, although its not essential, again it helps in weather proofing and dispels water. Wouldn't try and polish it though . Be patient as well, it will take considerable work. Wait at least a day between coats and try and wait until its dry. A warm room helps immensely in this . steve_7 10
when i got my hw100 it was dry as a bone, first thing i did was remove stock and rub in some parker hale walnut oil, only needs a bit and rub in with the palm of your hand, you will know when youre doing it right as oil warms up nicely... an old boy once told me when doing stock for the first time... rub in daily for a week, once a week for a month, once a month for a year........ i did mine everyday for a week a year ago and only done once since, really brought the markings out, looks good and doing the inside i know if damp gets in there its also protected...all the best steve Quote Link to post
