patterdalejoel 669 Posted November 4, 2012 Report Share Posted November 4, 2012 had a good day up the dale today, not because we saw that it is good on a forum, because we live here so. good frost on this first small dales warren we did. put longnet around and a few purse nets here and there, caught 4, bolted 5, one was left as the ferrets wouldnt stick. DeepEarth the dickhead with his longnet basket catching a few bunnies between the top banter. top Dales dog waiting for the top Dales rabbit to bolt. it didnt and we dug it out. ground was tough as f**k for foot, literally chipping a tiny bit away at a time. i took over at the end of the dig and took the glory of breaking through and grabbing the rabb. kicked a bit but patterdalejoel dealt with it as usual. we did quite a bit of stringing the longnet out as much as Joe could be bothered, which fairplay to him was a bit of a ballache, and relying on a few purse nets and the dog for the gaps. one one occasion i was ferreting a small warren while the others were having a dig on a warren 10 yards away, i half heartedly threw 3 purse nets down and chucked my ferret in. the rabbit bolted and the dogs were after it and they went out of sight, 10 seconds later my Eve (1st cross beddy whipp 17tts) came bounding back to me with a bog old rabbit swinging in her jaws. i was ecstatic, truly never felt happier in a long time. she did it again (on the land below) about 60 yard course, bowled it grabbed it before Nelly snatched it off her for the retrieve. again, ecstatic. very tricky land imo, but that it basically all she knows, her balance is great on the rough land and doesnt seem to bother her. Joe and Charlie offered me a few grand for the dog there and then, but i refused and joe said it was probably for the best as he was after a Collie Greyhound anyway. Charlie said it was like the Fens on top of a hill, and that my 3/3 merlin and eve double benji bred beddy whippet was the best dog he ever saw. big fooker, sired half the rabbits in the dale. well nourished these Dales rabbs. good land. lost both my jills down this for about half an hour, first one normally doesnt stick and i shit myself that they creeped out somewhere unseen. but Bert the hob in and he flushed em out, i think they had a big feed on a rabb after a long day. thats all, no EOD. big thanks to Charlie AGAIN for inviting us up, and givingmy animals a day of sport, helped him skin some rabbs free of charge as a Thankyou thanks to DeepEarth for being the life and soul of the trip, and without his knowledge of Deep Earths we would of really struggled on those digs cheers all AND KEEP THE FCUK OUTTA THE DALES! 3 Quote Link to post

My point is ,,, on the thread on lurchers ,, you had a dig at the 101 thread I did last year,,, saying it gets unwanted attention to the dales,,,, wich to be honest your quite right about,,, I hold my hands up,,, I have done posts on here for years about the dales,,, and I m partly responsible. However,,,, you are also responsible,,, as is everyone else who does a post about hunting in the dales .... That what I mean by "irony"..... You have just put up an excellent post with great pics of the dales,,, so your just as responsible if some lads turn up poaching,,,,, not forgetting the other lad has his location in his avatar ,,,, and I don't think he drives,,,,,,, so where does that leave you...? Dales is a massive place, and from what others have written in the lurcher section lads have always been going there so i decided to do a report as i think it will make little difference, wasnt having a pop at you, anyway the seeds have been sown, wether recently or 25 years ago, and nowt we can do Quote Link to post

patterdalejoel 669 Posted November 7, 2012 Author Report Share Posted November 7, 2012 well, there it is, glad i put all that effort in for 3 decent replies of people that wernt there. its always said how many twats and shit posts are on THL.... well here i am trying to make a decent contribution with good pictures and a lot of effort loading them off the camera etc, well i can say i wont be doing it again for a long time anyway, and its not the first tie it happens. what annoys me more is how more well known members can get 4 pages of replies and appreciative messages on a poor report.... well good luck and happy hunting, as its the last you will see of me in here for a while....... i know it sounds like sour grapes but its true... whats the point.. 1 Quote Link to post
