Guest Ditch_Shitter
Never mind the subject matter. But I'm being prompted to start a " Blog " concerning an off topic theme. I'd start a simple and straight foreward web site; Only I tried that before and wound up paying a years rental for some cyber space I didn't know how to do anything with! Yahoo Geocities tend to blow out of bandwidth the moment anyone becomes interested in actually viewing the f*cking things. Yahoo Groups? I don't want a group. I'm one man wishing to exhibit and talk a bit about a personal interest. Most of all ~ fifty percent or more? ~ I want to show pictures. Anyway, Yahoo / msn are notorious b*stards for people refusing to have anything to do with them. I personally won't go Near ye msn site. Screw them and their stupid " Passports ". I'm a Yahoo man. But their sites are shit too, unless ye join a given Group. We've just done that one. Now, the only 'Real' Blog I ever really look at is our own Patrick Burns' excellent and highly proper one: Terriermans Daily Dose. But Pat's a real maestro of the genre. He constantly includes fascinating, educational, Linked stuff from other Blogs and medias. He also speaks very well. F*ckin see Me pulling That off then! Thus I question if what I'm looking for might even be acceptable as a " Blog " ? But, allowing that I should be able to get away with it, I'm still at a loss as to which service to go for. Remember; I want to show photo's and say a little about them, as time goes by. One subject matter. Boring, unless ye share the interest. What I don't want is a " My Space " effort. F*ck telling everyone what my favourite bands are. Who my 'friends' are. Having idiots adopt me as their 'friends'. And then blathering on about my day at the office and imagining any c*** gives a f*ck or reads it. That's just not my scene. I do that shit here! So, there's the gist of my questions. A/ Which Blog provider works best for rich photo saturation? B/ Does anyone with experiance reckon I'm on the right track anyway? Any other advice gladly looked at

Guest Ditch_Shitter
Bosun; F*cking cracker, isn't it mate? I've been looking in on Pat's Blog since he started it some years ago. Never yet failed to lose myself in there. There's just so much thought provoking stuff. I don't know how the man so consistantly manages to come up with it all, but he does Extremely highly reccomended reading, that one. Border; I believe that's the very platform P. Burns uses himself! I've just taken their tour and it looks more up my street than I'd realised, I must say. I'll go back presently and register so I can get a better look at the insides of it. My main concern is how the photo's appear. But it's amazing to see they allow for direct linking from ones computer. That alone will save me a Lot of shit as Photo F*ckit has long since gone tits up for me and I'm now messing with various 'unknown' hosts from Google. I don't know how reliable those may prove, long term. I'd as soon trust my own pc and my back up external storage drive Anyway, I'm up and fresh now. Feeling pretty well decided that I have to do this. Because of the very nature of what I'm after doing, the Blog format seems ideal. Must say, with my propencity to ~ and personal enjoyment of! ~ natter, I can't help but suspect I'll soon be creating a second or even third one! This one's to be very focused and there for pretty accademic purposes. But I have so many projects ongoing which don't really fit into anywhere else I know of, I may grab some space just to let off steam and go on about them too. That would be as much for personal enjoyment and record as anything else. But a centralised record of my cow shed rennovation work would, for me, be great fun to maintane and be able to look back on. I could even direct Pat, the owner of the damn sheds, there! Let him see what I'm up to down here with all the timber and sand I keep asking him for!

Guest Ditch_Shitter
Ian; I rather consider this place my own Field Sports related 'Blog' anyway, mate. Look at my mink chasing escapades; Threads which, of themselves, became 'Blogs'. I just told what I was thinking, doing and failing at each day as I went along. What more could I - or anyone - have done on a 'proper' Blog? But what I'm thinking of now is basicly looking out an avenue for expression of my own Non Field Sports Related interests. Eg. I collect photographs of moths which I catch around here. Look what happened when I lashed up a couple dozen of my shots in Nature? I wasted a hell of a lot of my own time and this places bandwidth. Might just as well delete the whole damn lot. No one was remotely interested. So now I've sneaked off and joined a Moth forum. There we Really appreciate moths and discuss, display and enthuse about the things till the wretched cows come home. But mention Larsen trapping there? F*cking uproar! Places for everything and everything in their places. Interestingly, that very same moth forum also has members blog spots available. I never go in to them. Why? They're the same people as are already posting on the forum. I see their moths there. I'm, frankly, not f*cking interested how their damn kids are doing at school or what they think of the situation in some part of the world or what ever else they might be banging on about in there. And, if that's not what they're on about; Why not put it on the forum in the first place? Equelly here, we come here to talk Field Sports and allied matters. If Moll wants to ask about 4x4's or I want to know more about Blogs, we come here to General. In short; We have it all already But I'm looking at completely seperate interests now. And I don't want to do the moths thing again and block this place up with stuff of no earthly interest to these people. Those who do wish to study what else I'm into will find me through the usual channels. Not that they'd know it was me anyway, because I don't intend to 'Hold Court'. I don't want a soap box, as some seem to like blogging for (each to their own). I just want to share some information I'm gathering with those who may appreciate it. Beyond that, I could just see blogs on here becoming a mess. Again; What ~ or any possible interest to us ~ could anyone here say on an internal blog that they wouldn't better serve us by just saying on the boards? And, if someone wants to share their passion for the Butteflies of the Cumbrian Fells? What the hell should that be doing, buried away in a place like this? Not to mention that it'd probably draw this place a lot of unwanted flak from Cumbrian 'Nice Jumper Wearers' who'll come in search of butterflies and be incensed by discovering bloodshed! I think things could then become a little 'emotional'. Just my thoughts. Maybe I should have put them on a Blog? A Blog about Blogs, even?
