It was 3 years ago fella and not just recently..everywhere is red hot these days and these forums just add to the problems believe you me...the hunting game was a better place long before the internet

If you are as sweet talking as me . . . . . you end up with the permission!

That is what facebook is for

Giro i have no intention or need to poach . . Hence the lack of knowledge involving the the law and poaching . . . I asked because you hear about people getting caught with dogs but not ferrets only . . . So if any one has had any trouble or been caught in the act ferretin about as it were let us no what the outcome was . .

Hence why i put this in the ferreting section not lurcher section . .

i wanderd from my permission once onto a niebouring field with my ferret and nets and air rifle ,the game keeper caught me and thought i was in for a bloody good hiding the way he was going on,he looked in my bag,(i had nothing) he said im lucky i didnt have a car otherwise he would of put a bullet through the engine,i cant remember what else he said but he wasnt happy,i even got walked over to the farmers place who gave me the permission :icon_redface: ,luckily enough they got talking and everything was ok,,,i still kept my permission,,if the farmer or game keeper was in a bad mood things might have turned out very differently. but i think most of us have wanderd places that we shouldnt have at some point in our lives!!!! i keep within the law now, it makes for an easyier life

The Game Act 1831 - Poaching by Day

The Night Poaching Act 1828

dommorris92 its simple you break the law you risk being arrested and taken to court which could lead to criminal conviction..

Loads of lads have been stung ferreting if not on permission.. Its one of the dafted ideas considering the equipment and what a labour intensive and time consuming activity ferreting is..

Its hardly jumping the fence for one for the pot..

I was at a fishing board AGM with the wildlife crime officer there, to give a talk. He told us that the effort going onto stopping poaching was going to dramatically increase, those poaching were often also involved in other illegal activities and this was an easy route in to get them and their properties searched. It appears to be slowly working, as he had a number of examples where a simple poaching crime lead to prosecutions for other activities.

He also told us that there are now 3 (i think) specialist PF's in Scotland just for wildlife crimes, and it was their job to increase the number of successful prosecutions. The PF's are there to properly understand wildlife crime and to advise the prosecution on the crimes, as the case is heard by someone who has a full understanding of the crime.

He showed a number of posters that are put up in high problem areas, with phone numbers and details on who and how to contact local keepers, bailiffs and cops.Though the talk was mostly about fishing poaching he went onto details of other poaching activities locally and it was clear they have a good idea where the problems are and even who is doing it.

I dont think the one for the pot boys are the worry for the cops now, it is the organised pro's. I dont think kids with a snare or ferret have much to worry about, but the dog crimes are really being looked at.

if its the police who find you my guess is an £80 fix pen!!!! since public sector cuts!! they will only do you if you have a job and a car! otherwise your free to do what you like, i.e rob houses, mugging!!

watch out in south yorkshire though! they will prob change your statement (and there's) to say you where digging pigs!!

you say a one for the pot boys dont have to worry but last month three kids got £450 in fines and asbo's for catching a rabbit round here and not killing it correctly( causing the animal undue stress is what the court said) and then cooking it on a campfire
