Best way to get some ratting experience

Recommended Posts

Turns out my permission never materialised. Any suggestions to try and pick up some ratting for me, my patt bitch, (both novices), and my mate with his russell (done it before). Live in a village in kent, so plenty of farms, smallholders about. Just wondered what the best way to go about it was, to make the right impression and avoid the local bunnyhuggers? Going to beat for the nearby shoot , so maybe. Cheers all

ratting on a shoot is normally done prior to the poults coming and at the end of the season. local farms are also glad to see someone willing to kill rats, once you get one to give you a chance provided you do a good job then normally the doors start to open to other permisions.

Allotment,s arnt a bad place to get some ratting done, if they,v got fowel,s on, then there will be rats, never seen an allotment holder thats not glad to see me and the dog, make sure the dog is sound with fowel,s and always ask if there are any gin traps set, they set them and forget about them :icon_eek: , always ask, buster.
