Mk1 Ford Lotus Escort 1969

Recommended Posts

Nice! :good:

Mate of mine is restoring a genuine mk2 RS2000 to original factory standard, been about 4 years on it now doing a bit at a time. Had a look at it a few weeks back, it's had a bare metal respray, total engine rebuild using new parts, the works. He reckons it'll be worth upwards of £20,000 when it's done if he keeps everything bog standard..

My oldest boy is a MK1 fanatic, his first car 13 years ago was a MK1 which he rebuilt and tuned before he was 17. Still running with a very thirsty 1300cc crossflow but producing over 100bhp.

He built a special powered by a Honda S2000 engine which he sold to a motoring journalist in Canada who raced it in the Targa rally. That car is now in California and being prepared for another Targa rally.

His latest creation is S2000 based engine but rebuilt and tuned, currently producing well over 300 bhp but it ain't the most comfortable car I've ever been in!
