Hinds and pricket stags can and have been taken with a single lurcher, stags can and have been taken with two lurchers. IMO there the fastest of the six uk species of deer. When running full speed the

special dogs to do a stag single dont think ill ever see one, seen it done fair n square double and didnt think that was possible

A lot of people seem to think reds are some mythical creature that cant be taken by lurchers, preban people did take them. Seeing is believing Atb

a big fast dog.

those things can shift at some pace, ive read they can do 45mph.

add that to their weight, and its not going to be easy.

i'd say your looking at deerhound x greyhound as a sensible answer.

some weirdo on here once said he was at red stag with a beddy whippet

No dog could take one single handed in my opinion. But im sure youll have a few people on here saying there beddie/whippet does them regularly .....

depends if its stags or heinds

Not to me it doesnt. Even if there wasnt a ban on i think it would be unfair to slip a single dog on a red deer.

Yes you are 100% correct i dont bilieve a dog can take one single handed and i dont think its fair on the dog to even slip on one either. . Its just my opinion. And to say a lurcher would catch one on a grassy field is abit of a joke mate.

When running full speed they dont look like there running very fast because there so big and have such a long stride, they are very fast  making the fastest lurcher look slow :cray: even though they look heavy and cumbersome they also can jump fences and hedges with ease :icon_eek: The dog or dogs catching up and getting on terms is just the start there a very powerfull determind animal that take some stopping

true , seen 1 in the day young buck was put up by a gsp , the dog ran it to the fence .It must have thought i aint running no more, and ran at the dog and tossed it feckin 4ft in the air. Now this was young Buck not a stag, and that gsp are a fair sized dog. Its ok running these things pre ban, but it would take hell of a dog to stop+grab it , if the deer got other idea's
