Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
Well first i would like to thank Thursodog for bringing this subject to my attention, one i never thought about.. and didnt think it would make a difference quick 20-25 shots on each target, rangemaster li .22 from the hw97kt, at 35 yards on 10x mag. please note after i set the zero off to the left a bit i did not adjust the scope in any way throughout this test. so last light it was getting hard to see the bull otherwise the no lamp group would be tighter, anyway the point of this test was not to get the tightest group, but to see if the POI would change after putting the lamp onto the scope. and its safe to say.. IT DID! i would reccomend trying this for yourselves before you next go lamping! Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Got an idea, leave the lamp on, your grouping improved no end! 1 Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
POI versus POA does not change because you use a lamp on the gun POI "may" change because you have to 'compensate' for the weight of the lamp on your gun (especially if using a springer) because the weight of the lamp alters the way the gun recoils 1 Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
isnt drinking on a train bad? like pulblic place type drunk and disorderly sh*t? does it say on the tickets ? need to open the letters still lol If they didn't like passengers drinking, they wouldnt sell them alcohol on the trains would they? I'm not talking about getting ratted, just a couple on the cross country train, but there is no way I am paying £5 for a can of Fosters natts piss when I can get 4 pints of Stella for a fiver Quote Link to post

andyfr1968 772
Anything you change on any gun needs checking. And spring airguns are the worst culprit. 1 Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,589
Tony and Andy's both quite correct here with spring rifles Skot . They are sensitive to any changes placed on them which deviate from original zero. Adding a lamp and a velcro strip to attach the switch to your rifle Skot, and even the switch cable is adding weight and usually, the position of all this paraphernalia, on top of the scope and attached to the stock, usually forward of the trigger, is causing the point of balance to misplace. Effectively you are now shooting with a slightly 'different' harmonic from your rifle's original balance point. Hence you will experience shifts on zero. ghillies 209
fosters? i thought thats what you gave to kids to stop them embarising you at parties? hehehe hey tis posable to get a shift though.. e.g. on camera lenses you have to set the apature and the zoom to match lighting, if the lighting changes your focused some where else, so perhaps a bad scope lens set up could change it? i do know lamping after ages fubars your depth perseption a bit, like why i miss that 20 yarder?? because it 15 lol... edit...and, but, if why n maybe... they advise not to use zooms at the max/minimum extreme because of distorsion, so your 2.5-10 is really a 3.5-8.5 ish...3-9 maybe.
