Bad advice from the vet

Phoned the vet and asked when to get the ferrets castrated and they said after 4 months but before 6.

I thought that cant be right. Seems abit early to me. So I emailed the ferret trust and they said it was crazy to say 4 months. 6 at the bare minimum.

U know it's bad when even the vets are telling you stuff that isn't right.

Very few vets know alot about ferts most owners know more about them and as with all medical knowledge its impossable to remember it all. my vet always checks his books if he is unsure and never blindly gives advice which I guess yours has done.

I called them and the receptionist said she will talk to the vet and see what he thinks. So they called me back and told me. It's really bad though as they could do things that are detrimental to the health of one of the animals they are supposed to be looking after.

i no vets thats started spaying and neutering pups from 8 weeks

Theres very few vets that know anything about ferrets and even less i would take one of my ferrets too mate

Most vets advise spaying and castrating pups at 5-6 months :censored: Poor pup isn't even mentally mature, let alone physically, but that's what most pet owners want: a perpetual puppy.

Thats what age the vet recommened my Mrs get her Jack bitch spayed,and Im sure theyve fecked her insides, poor thing hasnt been right since. Its a fecking scam.

Its something that really should be corrected. So what is the best age for me to get the Hobs spayed as I'm being told so many diffrent things?

Mine told me I should get my bitch spayed at 4 months . Don't take anything a vet tells you as gospel, do your own research.

 

Vets are there to make as much money as possible so they can retire early, simple as that.
