Am i missing something here.. 7 page's about a dog marking a rabbit under a container. .what's the big deal just about all dog's doing a bit will mark a hole if there is something home and i have not

never a truer word bunny , when we used to have little hunting comps dog marked ferret in no rabbits , tried another ferret none again ,no pionts end of realy , sometimes i look at my old dog even tho he is a hundrd percent , on some of these big hillsides up here a good dog that marks saves alot of ferreting what looks good burries ,took rake aboot out one day we walkes a hedge row dog never marked i let the ferrets work fechall , he stopped dead head in and then stood back ferret in rabbit out ,as easy as that ,there warrens on hillsides up here you ferret for hundreds of yards a marking dogs essesntail and agood cather as its all bolting as there not enough to take time netting them

A mongrel which a friend of mine owned when we were kids used to mark rabbits never saw it give a false mark.

I think it was Charti who said about that dog NOT marking and looking more towards the fence or whatever is up to the side of that container and i agree with him..feck i've had dogs long enough to know when their marking something,i'm not saying the dog isn't good at that task but that dog is NOT marking anything and anyone who thinks it is ain't ever seen a dog marking a hedgerow,woodpile or bury etc:..either that or the dog is fecking blind :whistling: ..ATB Andy ;)

same with me he was called sandy ,good to see coursing type dogs mark like a good colie cross ,years ago some writers hunters tried to make us believe only colies could do it , found out the hard way , little did we realise that it was to sell puppies books , had aterrier mongrel but he couldnt cacht the bolters as easy jo ,

just dragged the bitch from the hole or runs through she was waiting back for a bolt but no one had a ferret any way its a picture end of

try telling that to 12 year old laddies everything was a prisner jo , just collie line with a touch saluki but she acts like my old collie line , thru more to the collie type i keep , good dogs pity good colie types are getting rarer nowadays

rougly qaurter , but 5 generaitions since there was a collie in them cattle cur x greyhound whippet kizzys father d slieghts old bitch from away back mid eighties ,kizzy to collie lurcher produced katie ,katie to m chapmans bob , luke pup of them to come on keera ,lana to tyne produced minni , , i wouldntput a colie over them probaly rex nest year unles i see something thats got same ability , minni is bomb proof, that comes from the collie line ,andy,like her mother lana

i got 2 lurchers here that mark, a fookin pup that marks an a lakie that, yep you guessed it marks :laugh: :laugh:

 

most dog will mark if given the appropriate chances :thumbs: nowt new or mythical aboot it :laugh:
