border lad 1,047
I cant see wht the big deal is, all I can see is a picture of a dog 'marking'. That whin wants to get proper dog collie cur minshers, back in the 80s 90s these dogs had big rep for big numbers of the rab hare roe... Back in the early 2000s I had a ferrit that would mark a rabbit and it would pull roe 40quid each, made loads of ££ self made man but the ferrets main capabilities where diving in the esk juat north south of the border gods land whitehaven cumbria you know edinburgh... And they would pull 100lb salmon out there was a man from LONGTOWN, (((( LAANGTOON)) AND he swears his little Jack russel NIP, pulled a 10lb salmon from the ESK, the pool just belowethe road bridge as you come from Gretna, into LAANGTOON, but its today june2012 and on that counts,, AS I said son when I was down in WEST cumbria, there was not A lURCHER TO BE FOUND, only the travelling boys had them on there camp -site on the old waste ground along were the old IRON WORKS ONCE WAS, NOW ITS A WASH WITH THEM, and the Fells are bare except for sheep and foxes, thats what you achieve, with your great bags, SUMMER HUNTERS they can not allow the annimals to breed, and leave half the stuff behind them,,,, yes you have all done exceptionally well, 1 Quote Link to post
chartpolski 27,455
A picture says a thousand words, surprise, all the write up on MINSHAWS, NOW THERE IS A PROPER RABBIT DOG, for every one on the forum to see, she is clearly marking, the sett, or the container, (((( what I would want if I was only after rabbits, PACE, STAMINA, STRIKE, AND NOSE, all finely combined, and of course she can take other things, as well if she, gets a good lye on, A very good Photo of WHINS, collie x BL; am I missing something in that picture ? You say "she is clearly marking the sett", but all I see is one dog tied to the container and one looking out behind it to the fence and road .... Here's a pic of my old Doberman "clearly marking a fox sett" ; Cheers. 2 Quote Link to post
border lad 1,047
well CP, she is clearly marking the run in under the container, and if you know anything about dogs, you can see, that she is Marking, and may I say the only dog to mark there even with all the terriers about,, now it is totally different, if you are working along a hedgerow, or a banking the dog would mark the main run, and like your old guard dog most dogs would have there head in the hole, and the way whin works BOLTING RABBS, she is standing off the hole,,, waiting for the ferret to do its job and she would finish the job on her side, LESSON OVER FOR THE DAYS CHILDREN, COME BACK TOMORROW SAME TIME AND DONT BE LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!
