123hw80 9
thanks for reply how much do you pay for them thanks Quote Link to post
COMPO 54
there is no such thing anymore as cheap cartridges. when i first got my SGC about 8 years ago....it was £3.50 for 25 eley grand prix......now they are nearly double that. last cartridges i bought was 50 CCI claybusters , £5.55 per 25 they were the cheapest they had in the shop, 28gm of 7.5's .....personally wouldn't hunt with them but OK for messing about with a few clays/targets Quote Link to post
Chid 6,741
For eley I pay £40 for 250 or £38.50 for GBs but I'm in northern Ireland ... Like I said earlier we use them on all game , the father in law as shot these for the last 15years and never had a problem . Quote Link to post
The Duncan 802
I wouldn't touch anything smaller than no6 for bunnies, and only use 7's for close decoyed pigeons. Humane kills is the name of the game, not how cheap the cartridge is IMHO. 1 Quote Link to post

The Duncan 802
More than competent thanks Still reckon 6's are a better killer though on anything bigger than a pigeon. Perhaps I hit them from further away? There's no way on gods clean earth I'd shoot a hare with 7 1/2's. And whilst trying to maintain alacrity and erudition, WTF! Amongst everyone I've shot hare with, the concensus is that nobody should use less than no5.s on a hare if they are a decent human being. 2 Quote Link to post
The one 8,577
Think the only way to get cheap shells is club together and buy by the 1000's Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
The old which shot size debate is one that has raged on in the pub after a shoot day and on these forums for years and at the end of it all, its down to your preference, performance and budget. I stick to a Number 7 28g load for almost everything feathered apart from wildfowl and I prefer a good quality clay load with hard shot and slightly faster. I do tend to shoot with slightly tighter chokes than most but then that's what I'm used to. Pigeons for decoying a No.6 or 7 in 28, 30 or 32gr will be fine. There will be some deals out there somewhere but if you can club together with someone else and buy in multiples of thousands, its cheaper. I tend to look here just for comparison, http://www.justcartridges.co.uk SS Quote Link to post
NIckinSurrey 6
Unless the prices are ridiculous, I would always suggest using your local dealer. Better to support local businesses so there is more chance of them still being there when you need something in a hurry. Nick 1 Quote Link to post
