Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
Eyup lads went shooting yesterday set off at 10am didnt get home until 730pm haha mainly target practice and getting some pellets through the gun to finish getting it bedded in. wasnt much about to be honest, saw the deer again which was nice. could hear quite a few pigeons and crows but just couldnt see any. decided to go home because i had about 20 rws superdome left, which my gun doesnt really like at long range, although there bang on at 30 yards pellet on pellet just getting to the gate to leave my permission and a female woodpigeon landed about 20 yards away! i couldnt get a shot tho so crouched and walked backwards until i could see her head by this time i was about 30-35 yds and boom hit her right next to the eye. she spiraled down to the ground and i wasnt convinced so i ran over, she was still all tense and blinking when i got there so i quickly neck'd her to put her lights out. after breasting her i was going to range the shot but looked in my pocket and no rangefinder. must have left it at my plinking tree.. damn it!! set off walking back down towards the other side of my permission to get the rangefinder and there was a few squirrels running about but couldnt get a shot, i know where the drey is now tho lol then about 25-30 yards a squirrel sat at the bottom of a tree trunk moved and caught my eye, i crouched safety off squeeze and bang right next to the eye. lights out! got there and saw it was a young one very small and i thought sod it il leave it for the fox or crows. got the rangefinder lol then shot another squizzy was hanging down off a branch whackedit in the head and it fell into some thick hollybush. unretrievable! that would have gone nicely in my rabbit curry that i had to make, due to having to de-frost the fridge freeezer and didnt want to waste my frozen rabbbit from previous trip. spot on,.. Rabbit tikka masala, garlic & coriander naan, pilau rice and a nice cold strongbow!! didnt put the woody in, thats for my T tonight SKoT Quote Link to post

silentshot1 206
Hi Scott Nice shooting and it sounds more like it was it's nerves than the pigeon still being alive. I've shot a few where they look like they are still alive but clearly can't be and normally in the head. a boiler room shot, just by the wing joint drops them like a stone, but head shots normally come with muscle reflexes that can make them look like they are still here. Nice shooting! 1 Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 793
Good shot placement there mate, sounds like reflex action with the pigeon to me too. I couldn't have left the squizzers tho, its my favourite meat bar venison... Cheers, wurz 1 Quote Link to post
