no stig DON KING f****d HIM UP

Guest bezza

I'm going to be a boring old man i know but I'm sorry, Tyson was not as great a boxer as many of the seventies heavyweights. I believe the following would have annihilated him: Frazier, Ali, Norton, Foreman and a few more besides.. He may be the best you lads have seen, but check out the above fighters on Youtube. In my opinion Tyson was great at hammering lesser opponents.-not so good when he was faced with a guy who was prepared to genuinely fight him. The way he deliberately bit Holyfield's ear to get out of the fight and the way he sucked up to Lewis after their fight demonstrates to me he was not a warrior in the same class as say Smokin Joe. That man had as much fight in him as any pitbull. I truly believe Tyson would have capitulated to Frazier both psychologically and physically within two rounds. Ali would have played with him for a few rounds and then finished him.

To me Tyson seems a strange guy to admire. Agreed he could knock lesser opponents out but to me he was an out of control nutcase. I couldn't believe the hero worship he received particularly from black people when he came to Britain. Check out the way Frazier and Ali used their positions as prominent sportsmen to do some good in the world. Tyson to me was just lowlife.

Exactly, Tyson wasnt the only one than got cheated by Don King. There are actually quite a few that has stated he cheated them out of a lot of money over the years.. including Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes..

Convicted rapist so how can any one hold him in any light other than a scummy sex pest :bad: ,amazes me that once you get so famous being a nonce is acceptable to the public when in fact you should be hung.

That is a matter of opinion and your entitalled to it but I was brought up on boxing and was weened on boxing from the seventies and early eighties ...the lad was a thug who brought himself up on the streets un til CusDamato saw something in him and brought him up as one of his own ...he was still a child mentaly ...imo if Cus had been younger and when they met and had continued to tutor him Tyson would not have turned into the monster he became ....you just have to see a young Tyson in his early fights he was very tmid until he got in the ring and was gent to his oppenents after he had defeated him ....Tyson became the monster he was due to everything and eveyrone around him at the time you have to remember he was in his early twenties .

As a fighter he was raw and a natural the speed he twists side steps then plants both feet and throws a punch with the power coming out of the hips all done with lightning speed ....his head always moveing ....

There is always going to be the on going arguement about Tyson -Ali but I still think Tyson under Cus would of dominated the heavy wieght division against ali frazier and foreman..... if you are fighting men of that caliber you have to be at your vey very best which gives you a reason and purpose ....and thats what Tyson lost cause there was no real competition in the early years ....Heavy wieghts peek in there 30s and we only seen Tyson at his best asa teenagerand early twenties ...... so if Tyson had been guided in the right direction who knows what a fighter he could of become .

Hes still for me the most exciteing rawest brutal fighter I have seen

Amen :notworthy:

followed Tyson from when he was a lad and introduced by Dickie Davis as a young up and coming heavyweight on The World Of Sport. What a raw talent he had showing some of the best fighters in the world no respect whatsoever from the time the bell went, the Berkick fight was a classic! the guy was the world champion and Tyson treat him like any other fighter with the aim of knocking him out from the bell...

Ok later in life things went bad for him, his head wasn't right and consiquently he got beat by fighters when he was at his peak he would beat hands down. keep hearing about the lennox Lewis fight and how good Lewis was, Yep he looked good at that time against a guy who's mind was totaly shot, I'm pretty sure a young Tyson at his peak as Lewis was would have had him out of there in 2 - 3 rounds.

always loved a Tyson fight weather is was on the telly or listening on the radio, he drew the crowds in and the atmosphere was electric, don't think we'll see another for many a moon ...

Seems they still hold him in some light, wonder if he'd raped their wives or daughters they'd still think him great ffs?.

Im sure i will be ripped apart for this but.. Am i not right in saying after he was sentenced he had the chance to get his time reduced from 6 years if he admitted raping that girl? He said he would never admit raping her because he didnt do it, even if it meant getting out of prison early.. It was also brought out that that same girl also alledged on a different occasion that a man had raped her..

Young Tyson was undoubtedly good, wiether he was as good as previous fighters from an earlier era we'll never know. I feel sorry for Tyson, it seems to me that he was a weak minded person and he was surrounded by some real slime balls after Rooney and Atlas left.

He was always suspect with women as its part of boxing lore that in the early days Teddy Atlas put a gun to Tyson's head over something he did to his sister.
