In my experience, they all try it on, one time or another, no matter how well stock trained they are. I sometimes think a half hearted attempt like your bitch did is not a bad thing. It is easier to s

Give her some one to one training mate, I'd use a lunge rope about 30 yards long that way you have control of her if the worst should happen and she does decide to chase shout NO just before the rope

Aswell as that possibility what do you think the farmer would say if he see's you messing about with the dog of the lead near his tub's that are pretty expensive to replace..a long line is the way for

I think your right chart mate. I trained that dog no different from any other dog I've had. Only slight difference was as I said, he seen a lot of whiteys. I've always been wary after a season on white hares but my fears have always been unfounded. Aye I've had dogs look or run a few steps when a lambs bolted from cover etc but that's been it. Even this dog was like that except those 3 times lamping rabbits. Maybe he wanted to chase a whitey who knows but he rarely seen them on the lamp.

That's my only regret mate, was too quick to decide on his fate. Anger, last chance and out with the farmers lad all played a part. He was a tidy dog mate, bed/deer/grey. I had high hopes for him but he wasn't worth me losing all my permission. Sometimes fate makes decisions for you, I know I regret it but if I'm truthful, under the same circumstances I'd probably react the same way.

You never told me about the sheep lover but you did tell me about the dog with the broken jaw.

at this time of year, they are clipping there sheep, and if you live nearby a sheep farmer, talk with him about stock breaking your young dog of course on a long lead, 20/30 ft you have him under controll at all times, in and through the Pens, if he is really bad the old Tupps will sort him out, take the fire out of your dog before you go through the Pens, and walk him up and down

its very simple, I believe a couple of good lessons, and he will know, they are not to be touched, and over the month, do not give him the opportunity, to chase stock, always be in command of him, I am sure you will have a positive results, good luck with the exercise,

Until last year I'd have given the same advice as the others. Living in Scotland getting a dog stock broken is pretty much high on the list of initial training of a pup. Never had a problem until that is my last young dog. 3 times the b*****d did it on different occasions. Went back to basics etc but to no avail. The last time he done it I was lamping with the farmers son, can you imagine the embarrassment and f*****g rage!!! Needless to say that's why I don't have a dog to run at the moment. The only excuse I can think of he seen a lot of white hares getting shot. Personally now I think some dogs just can't resist no matter what you do. Never experienced it before and I hope I don't again.

scent will come in well before colour my friend

It's amazing what can happen in a blink of an eye Stewie but I agree with you. It wouldn't be as bad if the f****r let go once he gripped it and realized his mistake but no, trying to shake the pish out of it is a better description
