Irish Game Fair at Shanes - Prizes

Recommended Posts

I'm not talking about racing I'm talking about the showing classes

Flash,

Sorry I misunderstood you - we do have a Puppy Champion which I missed out on. Now added in.

Not a bad idea about putting rough's and smooths separated . will ask Rosscrea Club to consider this for Birr.

pups have a final and they have to have a cut of point so thats a year as it has been for as long as i remember, theres hardly much point in an arguement as it cant change so enjoy the shows and relax

will there be a stall for the iwtf to help all the working terrier folk ?

As this is our 25th All Ireland Championships staged at our 50th Irish Game Fair , since we launched the Game Fair concept in Ireland in 1978, we have pulled out all of the stops to make this a memora

Its not only your shows do this the whole lot have started it an I don't understand y as if a judge has a eye for a smooth coated dog he's going to choose it over a rough coated dog

And if he has an eye for a rough....................?

I had discussed splitting all the classes into dogs & bitches with the organising club but the terrier entries at the three shows I have been at Ballywalter, Mourne and Moira didn't in our opinion warrant splitting the classes. Depending on the entry at Shanes we will review this for Birr and for 2013.

Been looking forward to Shanes castle, great prizes too.

I too am looking forward to getting it completed as my 50th Fair!

You will note that we have given whippets equivalent prizes ( and some would say extra classes!) throughout except for our feature lurcher races. If we get a good turnout of whippets we may consider something special for them in 2013.

The reason is that as you know pups especially of mixed breeds often look much different when they are fully grown. A puppy that looks well balanced at 6 months can be totally out of balance when it is fully mature and vice versa. Any dog being crowned All Ireland Champion should be a fine example of its breed type and in our opinion to enure this the dog needs to be at least 1 year old.

at least 1 year old, but sure is puppy class not for 1 year olds and younger, so if the winner of puppy class is 1 year old exactly then would it not be old enough to be a fine example of its breed type. is this the way all shows work the puppy winner does not be in the final along with all the other class winners of its breed.

I think you will find that at most if not all of the shows, a puppy is classed as a dog under the age of 1 year, on the day it turns 12 months and has it's first birthday it is no longer a puppy it is an adult and has to enter the appropriate class.
