JohnGalway 1,043
Last I heard the plan for today is to bring in a 4wd tractor to pull them out. That may have changed, I was away yesterday and haven't seen anyone yet today.
Carraghs Gem 1,699
Local lad rolled his brand new tractor with slurry tanker attached to it down a steep slope here couple years back, tractor was unrecogniseable after it, lad got out without a scratch
JohnGalway 1,043
One out, jacked up the front, put planks under the front wheels. Had to use sheeps wool under the rear wheels to mixed success, then dig a bit and push like hell. We got the other tractor moved it's own length. Encountered a few problems with the planks which ended up stuck in a large X under the body, got them out eventually with some decidely dodgy jacking. Tried a large boat winch then, managed to pull the two largest rocks around the place. Tomorrows plan is more plank work I think.

JohnGalway 1,043
I will stick to quads, I always said that particular piece of land and tractors aren't well suited.
Millet 4,497
Is there not another farm near by John with a big 4 x 4 tractor.
JohnGalway 1,043
Is there not another farm near by John with a big 4 x 4 tractor. Yep, owner of the stuck tractor has one he said he was going to bring in, then changed his mind. Yesterday evening he was talking about it again and Dad talked him out of the idea. Seeing as how I sunk neither of them and never agreed with tractors on that land I'm quickly I've pretty much lost patience with the whole exercise now, I've my own work to be getting on with instead of wasting time like this. Agreed, once while using the quad (which isn't a tractor I admit!) I borrow from time to time I got her stuck in 2wd in a drain, not a hope of getting out. Pushed the 4wd button and drove out as if she was on flat ground! But try to convince the others that 4wd tractor would do the job, may as well talk to the rocks. Getting the rear wheel of one tractor fixed at the moment, then we'll bring that back in on the transport box with the second tractor, sticking to the hard spots I imagine lol.
