Horsing Around down at the stables again (with pics this time)

Recommended Posts

Last week I decided that my TV licence wasn't worth the direct debit slip it was written on but the tin of lead shavings needed to be emptier than it was so I headed out to the stables of my permission to see what was about.

The nervousness feeling never leaves me and I have really come to enjoy having it. Sometimes it becomes so great when I have arranged a couple of days in advance rather than on a whim to have a sesssion that I actually get 50p/20p bum. Penalty at a sold out Wembley comes to mind.

I'd remmebred to take the camera this time and upon exiting my car and I set up the rifle, positioned it and took a picture for you all. So here is my BSA R10 MkII in full combat fancy dress:

A look around at the fileds that were to be my playground for the next couple of hours (wan't going to be a particulalry late one) and I decided the head down between the two bottom paddocks where i could see a small cluster of fluff tails hanging about near the corner where the burrows are.

I was walking down the other side of the hedge when the horses came trotting over to make my aquaintance as has become the customary procedure during my visits. A quick stroke, rub and one particular one trying to eat anything loose about my person and I turned to continue my approach to Culling Corner.

As I got to the little gap in the hedge the little buggers had run off so I decided to sit and wait them out, preparing myself for a long vigil.

I setout the bipod legs, positioned the rifle and then laid down beside it concealed and quiet.

I waited about 2mins before some movement caught my eye. A quick check about and the fluff tail hopped out into the open. As it munched on the lush pasture I manouvered it ino the site of the scope. It hopped out of scope view and I struggled to locate it so I withdrew from attack position and could see it had actually moved further away from the burrows. Gently I swung the rifle round and it moved again, I couldn;t keep up with it. As it settled in to munching on borrowed time I got the crosshairs directly on its bonce. It moved again but this time it came about five yards towards me. A brief wait for it to turn sideways a bit and pop, over it rolled and gave a bit of a back leg jig. Another rabbit that had decided to come out for a bit raced back into the hedge.I figured it would be a long wait after seeing its mate tumble so I crawled out of cover and retrived the first one. I then settled back down to wait out any more.

Only 30seconds must have passed and out hopped contestant number two. Again it ventured away from teh burrows quickly and was intent on coming over to give me a kiss. Luckily I stopped it in its amorous tracks and duly retreived that.

Two in hand and the rifle in the other I wandered back to the car for a death stick and a drink as it was warmer than I had anticpated.

Once the refreshement break was over I took off up the hill and covered the top playign fields and top paddocks, returning to the car with four more fluff tails.

I now have the evidence to prove I do actually get out there and this isn't some derranged imaginary activity I partake in (and love)

Gosh, not seen a BSA R10 with a silencer on before. It looks....sexy! If rather long, but long is ok.

That is one hell of a good outing, all credit to ya hutch6, and yes they go mad for the piccys, keep it up!

Cheers Bear. I'll be in touch soon. Got some personal guff to sort out and then I'll have leisure time at my disposal and I could do with tapping into your vast knowledge being wet behind the ears as I am.
