To be honest if I have a young dog or a dog that needs a few easy kills to boost its confidence then you can stick your rule book up your arse....jmho

That sort of comment always comes up on summer hunting threads......you can just take your dog(s) for a walk without hunting you know. There's a different between going out in the country for a coupl

The fact is, in most places this time of year the argument is a little academic when it comes to dogs as all the crops are about 4 foot high anyway.

I'm going to start up again soon as I get my van back from the garage fuk things up for the local dickheads. will cull every cub i can find and milky bunnys. They don't stop why should i !

That's pretty much the attitude of most round here now, got to get in first, or some other f****r will, so its getting earlier every year, with may being a very popular month these days.

I know bud but i dont hunt local much anymore coz its been fuked buy idiots, so i'll start giving them a taste of there own medicine, keep my muts ticking over ready to go to some better places in the winter.

aint you learnt ye lesson running dogs in summer :whistling:

This is the lesson i learned from that tragic day. While exercising the dogs late afternoon In the summer anything can happen like it did to me with my greyhound when she took of after a rabbit, when she came back she was fuked wich i thought was her being out of shape abit (not unfit just not as fit as she was in the winter months) buy the morning she was dead, I was gutted but thats life unfortuantly. I still do things the same as I did that day there was 5 dogs out that day and all the rest where fine! I believe it was a freak accident not only that but i dont think it helped she was a pure greyhound. She had a good life doing what she loved she loved. I don't believing dogs should be kept on leads on not exercised in the summer moths just cause its warm, know plenty of lads whos dogs rarely leave there kennels and it aint the way I do things and never will.

That sort of comment always comes up on summer hunting threads......you can just take your dog(s) for a walk without hunting you know. There's a different between going out in the country for a couple of hours just for a stroll (and accepting the fact your dogs will pick off the odd bunny/squirrel etc.) and actively hunting. I take mine out for 2-3 hours every day without fail but I'm certainly not hunting, just wandering around the woods, letting her have a run round the fields and a bit of swimming.

Youngsters need the work,no matter what time of year, apart from that i hate to see breeders killed,i understand the pest control etc. reasons, how many are genuine though?.Its to cold, wet and muddy for some lads in winter, the dogs killed a milky doe on their evening stroll last week,i praised the dogs, its what they are trained and brought up to do,alarmingly its the same with a lot of lurcher lads.To me it was a waste of a breeder and come the season there will now be less for me to go at.

Crops stop most action in our mainly arable based permissions even then I have a fair wack of pasture land but then that has grazing so never really see the point in hunting outside the standard winter months view.

But some see hunting as a rose tinted life of catching few bunnies ever weekend for pot and giving the dogs a nice hunt and enjoy that wonderful joy of seeing that carefully trained dog working in tamdem with owner ferrets etc.

But others who have good numbers of pests which demand a more workman like approach or numbers would get to point of damage that is not sustainable to crop .

Lets not forget we have moved on from days of needing to hunt all year but our great grandfathers had to hunt to provide food for there familys and despite there hunting 365 days a year we still have a good number of pests in the UK .

Do I think that the actions of some is selfish when it comes to hunting YES but some members want others to abide by the country rules of no summer hunting.

But are quite willing to go for a wee mooch over the fence on somebody else land so dont get over proctective of your morales to your own views and actions on certain things when and if your not so squeeky clean .

Just a couple of questions, after having a funny kind of day today.

Who on here can honestly say that they don't summer hunt, and don't jump on the chance of doing it, and being able to use 'pest control' as the excuse (different from doing a call out when there is a genuine reason).

and secondly -

If you have access to land, and other folk hunt it as well, who love going out and filling their boots in summer, do you stick to your principles and keep to the winter, or just f**k it and do what they do, but try and get in first, killing as much as you can in summer?

not read the whole thread yet BUT if you take a working dog a walk anywhere in the summer then your hunting as the mutt dont give a f**k about seasons!!!

yes killing young is a c**ts trick if you do it on purpose BUT you gotta walk dogs whatever the weather!! also it helps if you no the breeding seasons of your quarry, some might say its wrong to hunt certain animals in winter :hmm: :hmm:
