max abell 196
Regards shooting to ferrets it's a quick way of getting around the warrens and good fun we found the gun noise didn't make that much difference to the rabbits bolting yet if you start talking and stomping about on the warrens it does make a difference to bolting And the golden rule with ferreting to guns is if there is 2 of you shooting you must make 100% sure you pick someone who is not excitable with a gun when rabbit shooting as ferreting with someone that is trigger happy being it is done low to the ground can be very dangerous Quote Link to post

The one 8,579
Thats my Favorite type of ferreting it allows you to cover the ground quicker than setting and lifting nets and its great sport as they often bolt when youve swapped the gun for the spade 2 Quote Link to post
Joycey 20
Poor ferreting when putting a muzzel on, thats just lazy not wanting to dig, as everybody has said its not fair on the ferret, what if you lose it, it will not beable to defend for its self Quote Link to post

Guest cookiemonsterandmerlin
Never really enjoyed ferreting to the gun, done it a fair bit, but the noise just kind of ruins it for me. And muzzles are a stupid idea. Each to there own I thought its was unreasonable in todays world to run fert without locators yet you defended owners who worked without. For me running a fert without a locator is on the same level as a muzzle on a fert ATB Cookie Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,217
Wow, funny that you'd jump on that You are inclined to your opinion, but i think most would see the difference between the two. But i'm not sure we were discussing locators? Quote Link to post
hily 380
don't see why he dos'nt use nets on that ground looks ideal for neting and soft enough for digging we bolt to the gun when conditions call for it like thick blackthorn hedges woods or whinny bushes where you can't get the nets set up and long nets won't do the job bolting to the gun is good sport and can help to steady a dog that runs inn.
