cindy 0
I was given this info sometime back, but I have not tried it yet, as I had never heard of it, but now i know others have had no problem with it, am going to give it ago. You watch, knowing me I will be re-booting by the end of the day -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For general browsing of the Internet, use the latest version of Firefox or Mozilla's browsers [www.mozilla.org]. No browser is 100% secure, neither are they all currently capable of doing everything. However, the Mozilla-based browsers are regularly updated and subject to far fewer major security vulnerabilities. They also tend to be faster to load pages, but can have issues with Flash and Windows Media Player content. E-mail. If you have M/S Outlook, ensure the preview panes are disabled at all times, especially on Inbox and Deleted Items. In leaving them on, messages can be read, which can not only activate viruses, but also trigger what are known as 'beacons' to spammers ...ensuring you get more offers of viagra and goodness knows what else. I personally don't care much for Outlook Express, especiallly as it lacks contact management and other features the main version of outlook has. I would again advise going to www.mozilla.org and downloading a programme called Thunderbird. Like the browsers, they are open source and free of charge. It is a good programme, designed to be more secure and again is updated frequently. Besides which, there are some good tutorials online to get started.
Guest The Big Fish
Ive been using firefox for months now and its quick. But the latest update beware of, i downloaded it and all hell broke loose, wouldn't connect to any sites at all, so went back to version 3. The nice thing about firefox is the tabs, you dont need to open up new windows for each website your looking at, just a new tab, then flick from one to the other. SINDASOX 256
A few years back i was constantly having trouble with IE, so rather than wipe my hard drive and start again i switched to Mozilla and was using it for about 2 years. I've now had my system wiped and XP put on and also upgraded to a 2mb broadband connection, whooooohoooooooo,...... ...... so i'm back with IE at the moment.
