ftm 3,357
was working on the landy yesterday as weather had eased up a bit when all of a sudden i heared a right commotion with sparrows and starlings going berserk so i downed tools [as you do] and went to see what the cause of it was ,at 1st thought it might be a cat but found out it was a nice big crow going along the gutters looking for chicks no doubt so as quick as my feet would take me i got the trusty [i mean rusty] rapid out and waited for it to come up to mine ,not long to wait and it hasnt got a clue that im eyeing him up through the scope and bingo hes at my bird box on the wall [empty i may add -sparrow hawk] so without further ado i dropped him straight down into garden which seemed to trigger a scene from alfred hitchcocks the birds as the sky filled with jackdaws crows and gulls ,i thought it better to put rapid away incase nosy neighbours clocked me!-billy Edited May 4, 2012 by ftm 1 Quote Link to post
BEARINATOR 2,924
Well done Billy, it ain't illegal to shoot in your own property though as long as no pellets leave your boundary 1 Quote Link to post
milegajo 595
Without sounding too much like a pansy, its pretty unnerving when they do that! Nice opportunistic shot. They're too wary my neck of the woods for me... Edited May 4, 2012 by milegajo Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
So is it wrong to take pigeons off the bird tabel then? Not if they are eye'ing up your vegatable garden it aint; or they're shitting so much it's a health hazzard to humans. Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Well done Billy, it ain't illegal to shoot in your own property though as long as no pellets leave your boundary But it is illegal to shoot Crows if they aint meeting the criteria set under the general licenses However; Billy states that this Corvid was shot purely for the protection of the song birds and their young and this meets the requirements as laid out in the GL's Nice work Billy Tony 1 Quote Link to post

Just remember that you have tried to scare them under the terms of the g.l but shoot the flying rats properly 1 Quote Link to post

BEARINATOR 2,924
Stop people shooting them for fun FTM , we got a call at work the other day about starlings in a attic and couldn't do anything with them till august under the G.L terms so will have to proof the attic in august as it would be a £5,000 fine for every bird and chick trapped in , Phantom mate Quote Link to post
