rob190364 2,594
The Red Cross knocked at my door asking if I could help towards the floods in Pakistan . I said I would love to, but my hose only reaches the bottom of the driveway.

They'll have a name tag on with the name of the charity but also the name of the company they work for (probably something fundraising), ask them if that's a profit making organisation (it is!).....give them a grilling about it, I've done it a couple of times and wierdly they always skip my house now

Noooo, that's why the trick or treaters skip my house, the charity collectors aren't aware of that.

I'm lucky that we live out of the way so very rarely get the door knockers, but a couple of years ago my other half lost a relative to a terminal illness and she decided to donate to one of its charities by direct debit. When she gave her details she also gave the phone number, and within a week she started getting calls from other charities asking her to donate (proof that they also share details). There'd often be several calls a week from different charities, most of which I'd never heard of, and some really didn't want to take no for an answer. On some occasions I had to take the phone and tell them - ' Look, you obviously don't understand the meaning of no thank you, so this might make it more clear... F**K OFF!!'

F**K OFF!!' probably the same company rather than sharing details, the companies represent several different charities. So you could sign up to donate £3 a month to three charities thinking your doing a good turn, and in actual fact all you're doing is giving a profit making company £8 a month and the charities themselves will be getting £1 a month between them! I don't know how it's legal to be honest, it's quite shocking!
